In a heart-wrenching incident yesterday, two passenger and one goods train collided near Bahanaga Railway Station in Odisha.

Reportedly, Coromandel Express running between Shalimar Station and Chennai collided with Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, which led to a significant number of casualties. According to Pradeep Jena, Chief Secretary of Odisha, a goods train was also involved in the dreaded accident. So far, the death toll has reached 280, while more than 900 are injured and rescued.

While the rescue operation has now concluded, the restoration operation is ongoing. The Prime Minister has called a high-level meeting to review the situation. He himself is reported to reach Odisha and visit Balasore and Cuttack today.
