Pakistan Air Force base has been attacked by terrorists in Mianwali, Punjab. The attack took place today early in the morning. The terrorists associated with Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) carried out the attack at the airbase in what is being reported as a suicide bombing at the dawn of Saturday.

As per the latest information, about 6-10 terrorists carried out the attack and 9 have been killed so far. Pakistan Air Force sustained heavy losses including some aircrafts and armored vehicles.

Although the ISPR has claimed that the attack was successfully foiled, the ground reports and video clips tell a different story altogether.

The attack comes in the wake of various lethal attacks across Pakistan which left 17 Pak Army soldiers dead. The first attack occurred yesterday in Pasni, Balochistan where 14 personnel were killed in an ambush. Later, there was a bomb blast in Dera Ismail Khan followed by an operation by Pak Army in Khaibar Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat. In a fourth incident, another remote controlled bomb blast rocked Dera Ismail Khan which left about 5 people dead and 24 injured, including some officials.

Pakistan is grappling with insecurity as it has always harboured terrorists who are now giving it the taste of its own medicine. The terrorist that have been patronised by Pakistan to create instability in the subcontinent especially, Afghanistan and India are now targeting it back questioning its legitimacy. The way Pakistan Air Force base has been attacked is clearly an example for those states who try to instigate terrorism in other countries.
