Italy removing non-biological lesbian mothers’ names from children’s birth certificates

The city of Padua in northern Italy has embarked on a contentious process of removing the names of non-biological gay mothers from their children’s birth certificates. This controversial move comes as a result of new legislation passed by the “traditional family-first” government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The birth certificates affected belong to 33 children of Italian women who underwent artificial insemination abroad and subsequently registered their children under the city’s previous center-left government, led by Sergio Giordani, in 2017. The recent development, confirmed by the prosecutor’s office in Padua, has already seen 27 mothers’ names removed from as many birth certificates as of Thursday.

Prime Minister Giordani had initially promised to remove the traditional designations of “mother” and “father” on birth certificates, but this policy was overturned by Meloni’s government. The current measure dictates that only the biological parent can be named on the birth certificate, effectively excluding the non-biological parent.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that surrogacy is illegal in Italy, and gay marriage has not been legalized. As a result, non-biological parents in same-sex relationships must undertake the challenging process of legally adopting their children. The new legislation also impacts men in same-sex relationships, who are now required to designate a single legal father on the birth certificate.

Family Minister Eugenia Roccella defended the bill in parliament, asserting that children of gay couples would continue to have access to school and medical services like any other child with one living parent. However, critics argue that the move limits certain rights for the non-registered parent, making everyday family tasks, such as picking up the child from school or utilizing public services on their behalf, subject to permission.

The local chapter of the LGBT campaign group, the Rainbow Family Association, has launched an official protest against the retroactive cancellation of birth certificates. The group contends that these certificates were signed during a legislative void and insists that their children deserve full protection and recognition as citizens, regardless of their family structure.

Furthermore, concerns are mounting that other regions, especially those governed by center-right administrations, may follow Padua’s lead in an attempt to impose a single-family model.

In March, Meloni’s government introduced legislation to extend the national ban on surrogacy to couples who engage in such services abroad. If the law passes, those violating it could face hefty penalties, including a two-year jail term and a fine exceeding $1 million. Critics argue that this measure specifically targets same-sex couples but would also extend to heterosexual couples using surrogacy services abroad.

Prime Minister Meloni’s campaign platform heavily featured anti-LGBT sentiments, and since assuming office in October, she has been vocal about her commitment to ensuring that “all babies are born from a man and a woman”.

Unveiling Kashmir’s terrorism industry

From their response, it appears that political parties and separatists are either completely baffled or fixated by the recent spate of murderous attacks targeting members of minority communities and migrant workers in J&K. For example, National Conference [NC] MP Hasnain Masoodi seems to be unable to fathom as to “why do you have three to four incidents within such a short span of time? [And] who is doing this?” Senior Communist Party of India [Marxist] leader M Y Tarigami wants to know “For how long will this bloodshed continue? Why are innocents being targeted?”.

Peoples’ Democratic Party [PDP] chief Mehbooba Mufti however believes that such killings are due to the administration’s apathy and “speak[s] volumes about GOI’s policy, which has been a monumental failure in J&K.” By stating that the “State policy of extreme repression and unilateral interventions countered by equally extreme and viscous vengeance is a vortex we have got caught into, leading to extreme suffering of Kashmiris of all hues,” [emphasis added], it’s apparent that Hurriyat too seems to share the PDP chief’s view.

The very fact that none of the political parties or members of the separatist conglomerate have dared to make even an oblique reference to Pakistan’s involvement in orchestrating such acts as part of its ongoing proxy war in J&K is intriguing. Since Pakistan’s sponsorship of terrorism in J&K is a well-known and established fact, this omission indicates that their pretence of ignorance is presumably an attempt to hide some uncomfortable truths.

Readers may recall that Pakistan’s former President and ex-army chief Gen Pervez Musharraf had himself admitted that “Kashmiris who came to Pakistan received a hero reception here. We used to train them and support them. We considered them as Mujahideen who will fight with the Indian Army. Then, various terrorist organisations like Lashkar-e-Taiba rose in this period. They were our heroes.” [Emphasis added].Similarly, Hizbul Mujahideen [HM] supremo and chief of United Jihad Council [a coalition of various terrorist groups fighting in J&K] Syed Salahuddin has also accepted that terrorist groups are actually “fighting Pakistan’s war in Kashmir.”

Even Lashkar-e-Taiba [LeT] co-founder and Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed has stated that “. . . what our army will do to secure the rights of the Kashmiris is jihad . . . We extend help to Kashmiris alongside the Pakistani government. . .we call this jihad.” [Emphasis added]. So, when the main architects of terrorism in J&K have themselves spilled the beans voluntarily, how is it possible that J&K’s political parties and Hurriyat are unaware of this reality?

Despite trying every trick in the book, Islamabad’s attempts to repackage terrorism in J&K as a morally justified “armed struggle” against oppression have failed miserably. While the Kalashnikov has brought about widespread death and destruction, some unscrupulous people have, by selling their conscience, converted terrorism into a flourishing industry and thereby merrily making a fortune for themselves as well as enjoying several other associated benefits.

While it may shock the unversed, the undeniable fact is that terrorism has spawned a new breed of rich and influential people in Kashmir Valley. Majority of people harbor a quixotic impression about terrorism based on fictionalised on-screen presentations and perceive this extremely complex undertaking simply as an ongoing cycle of gunfights between the security forces and terrorists. The reality is that since terrorism is an act of waging war against the state, it requires an elaborate and effective ecosystem to flourish.

What type of ecosystem does terrorism require? Well, the answer is simple- a terrorist requires external support right from the day he decides to pick up the gun till the time he goes to his grave, and this costs money. Terrorist groups need to pay ‘spotters’ to scout the countryside for identifying and indoctrinating potential recruits. Guides who will take the recruits to training camps across the Line of Control [LoC] and subsequently help them infiltrate back into J&K are also required to be paid for their services.

There’s also the requirement for terrorist handlers to pay the owners of ‘safe houses’ enroute where terrorists can be accommodated and fed, both during exfiltration and infiltration. Once terrorists re-enter J&K, they require a string of hideouts, local guides, informers as well as finances for their sustenance and personal expenses. In addition to ‘buying’ necessary facilities for the administrative and operational requirements of the terrorists, influencers and activists also to be paid for projecting a positive image of terrorists and demonising security forces. These terrorist facilitators are commonly referred to as ‘over ground workers’ and this work attracts many as it pays well and isn’t very risky.

Inducing reputed writers into authoring articles eulogising slain terrorists, cultivating renowned activists who are willing to take up human rights issues selectively and use their communication skills to present a completely distorted view of the ground realities may be difficult, but is certainly not impossible. The existence of an imposing cabal of activists who have no qualms whatsoever about justifying violence perpetrated by terrorist in J&K while denigrating the establishment, security forces and law enforcement agencies validates Filipino business magnate Lucio Tan’s observation that “Everything is for sale if the price is right”!

The levels to which the entire system in J&K was compromised by terrorist proxies can be gauged from a February 2006 confidential cable sent by the US embassy in New Delhi which was released by Wikileaks. It reads, “… Money from Pakistani and Indian intelligence agencies and from Saudi and other foreign extremists has further distorted Kashmiri politics, incentivised leaders to perpetuate the conflict, and perverted state and Central government institutions.” [Emphasis added].

NC and PDP will most certainly reject the Wikileaks revelations. However, isn’t it a fact that in 2016, NC President Farooq Abdullah reached out to Hurriyat which unashamedly propagates secessionist ideology by saying, “I ask these Hurriyat leaders to unite. We are standing by your side at this hour. Don’t think of us as your adversaries. We are not your adversaries.” [Emphasis added]. He then even conveyed the cryptic message to his own party workers telling them, “Don’t stay behind in this struggle of Kashmir.” [Emphasis added].

Similarly, can PDP deny that immediately after taking oath of allegiance to the Indian constitution on becoming Chief Minister of J&K in 2015, the then PDP President Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed flagrantly tried to appease the pro-Pakistan lobby by telling the media that “I want to say this on record and I have told this to the Prime Minister that we must credit the Hurriyat, militant outfits for the conduct of Assembly elections in the state”[Emphasis added].

The Hurriyat leadership has also benefited a lot from terrorism. In fact, this separatist conglomerate was created by the Pakistan Army’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence [ISI] in 1993, as a united political front to internationalise the cause of Kashmiri separatism and mobilise public opinion against Indian security forces. That humble abodes of many Hurriyat leaders soon became mansions while their personal assets and wealth multiplied manifold says it all.

The very fact that Syed Ali Shah Geelani who spearheaded the secessionist movement in J&K ultimately quit Hurriyat in protest against rampant financial irregularities by its leaders reveals that the real driving force behind the secessionist movement in Kashmir is the money it brings in and the vociferous hullabaloo about ‘self-determination’ is just mere rhetoric. A classified US diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks quotes senior Hurriyat leader and JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik admitting that “Kashmiri politics is no longer about ideology; it’s all a money game.” [Emphasis added] and this aptly sums up the happenings in J&K!

Besides striking gold, those who became part of the secessionist ecosystem in J&K got several other benefits. For example, despite his pedestrian curriculum vitae, Hurriyat leader Geelani’s grandson still managed to secure the highly sought after post of a research officer in the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre in 2016. Similarly, two of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s sons got government jobs-one as a pharmacist at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, the other in J&K agriculture department.

Pakistan’s largesse has also helped separatists to splurge on their family members. A 2019 Ministry of Home Affairs report revealed that 112 children of separatist leaders were studying/had studied in foreign countries and this list included details of 21 children of 14 prominent secessionists. As far as politicians are concerned, the February 2006 US diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks, reveals that “Corruption cuts across party lines and most Kashmiris take it as an article of faith that politically-connected Kashmiris take money from both India and Pakistan.”

Would it therefore still be too farfetched to infer that both politicians and separatists are feigning ignorance regarding the ongoing violence in J&K just to protect their own vested interests?

The most appropriate answer to the concerns of politicians as to why are killing of innocents taking place in J&K can be found in another US diplomatic cable that states, While this river of dirty money [being used to finance terrorism] has led to a boom in Kashmiri household income and real estate prices, it also calls into question whether the Kashmiri elite truly want a settlement to their problems. The minute a deal is struck some must surely worry that the funds will dry up.” [Emphasis added].

Since terrorism in J&K has turned out to be the proverbial golden egg laying goose for many in positions of power, which beneficiary in his/her senses would like to upset the apple cart by wanting it to end?

Radical Paki Mullah asks Islamic nations to cut ties with Sweden

In the wake of the controversial Quran desecration incident in Stockholm, the call for action from Muslim nations has reached a fervent pitch. Maulana Fazl, a prominent radical Islamic leader, urged all Muslim countries, including Pakistan, to recall their ambassadors from Sweden in response to the burning of the Quran. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and JUI-F chairman echoed the sentiment, demanding “strict action” from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) against those responsible.

The situation was further exacerbated by Iraq’s recent decision to expel the Swedish ambassador, following protests that saw the Swedish embassy stormed and set ablaze in Baghdad. Baghdad also recalled its charge d’affaires in Sweden and suspended the working permit of Sweden’s Ericsson on Iraqi soil, as a mark of solidarity.

Amid the escalating tensions, the OIC held a special session at its Jeddah headquarters to address the issue collectively. The incident, in which Salwan Momika, a 37-year-old Iraqi citizen living in Sweden, set several pages of the Quran on fire.

Meanwhile, the Swedish government in a statement expressed understanding of the offense caused to Muslims by the acts of individuals during demonstrations, emphasizing that these actions did not reflect the views of the Swedish government.

However, in a issue of the journal Forensic Sciences Research, a paper on “Swedish rape offenders” was published in which they analyse the characteristics of individuals between 15-60 years old who were convicted of “rape+” against women in Sweden between 2000 and 2015.The researchers found that, within that time-frame, a total of 3,039 offenders were convicted of rape+ against a woman in Sweden — nearly all of whom (99.7%) were men. According to the researchers, Swedish-born offenders with Swedish-born parents accounted for 40.8% of the offenders. But, strikingly, almost half of the offenders were born outside of Sweden (47.7%). Of those foreign-born offenders, 34.5% were from the Middle East/North Africa, with 19.1% hailing from the rest of Africa. As a percentage of all convicted perpetrators, therefore, 16.4% were foreign-born individuals from the Middle East/North Africa, and 9.1% were foreign-born individuals from Africa (excluding North Africa).

Pakistan’s ISI uses Yasin Malik’s daughter as a tool to defame India

Once found frequent mention in Jammu and Kashmir, today, Yasin Malik and his notorious JKLF have become irrelevant. And the prime reason for that is the abrogation of Article 370, following which J&K unified with India like never before. It ended the tradition of separatists’ appeasement and started a new tradition of calling spade a spade! Earlier, the terrorists like Yasin Malik veiled as separatist leaders, carried forward every type of illegal activity under the patronage of the contemporary state governments and extended support from terror factory, Pakistan. In one such illegal activity of terror funding, Yasin has been sentenced to life-imprisonment.

Pakistan that has long pulled its hand back from Yasin, has miraculously exploited his daughter to resurrect the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. In a latest development, Yasin’s daughter Razia Malik spoke at an illegitimate Parliament of the Pak occupied Jammu & Kashmir. A 11-year-old minor girl, who doesn’t even have an idea of what her father has done , called her father a beacon of light for the cause of Kashmir.

She went on to say that his death sentence is a measure to stamp down the cause of Kashmir. The little girl is unaware that the democratic value enshrined institution of Indian Judiciary has sentenced Yasin on the basis of evidence. To put it simply, her father was a terrorist, who has the blood of innocent on his hand, perhaps even some as young as she.  So, either she is inspired by her father’s morals which see the “Cause of Kashmir” as terrorism or she is just a pawn of Pakistan like her father was. The chances of latter are extremely high!

ISI Exploiting Invincible Ignorance Of Yasin Malik’s Daughter

Pakistan has a history of use and throws when it comes to terrorists in Kashmir. The ISI has even ditched Yasin in his so-called fight for the so-called “Cause of Kashmir.” Actually, ISI created JKLF to wage a proxy war against India in J&K. According to experts, JKLF lacked confidence and hence, the ISI created Hizbul Mujahiddin dumping JKLF. Then, in order to be relevant, JKLF having no option, announced to leave the path of violence and tried to appease ISI with different tactics from time-to-time. As Razia spoke of hoping to meet her father and spend quality time with him, maybe in that quality time, Yasin should also advise her to not get exploited and trapped in nefarious agenda of the ISI.

In her speech, she also said that if anything happens to her father, she would blame PM Modi for that. She is unaware that Yasin glorified the killings of a judge and unarmed Air Force officials by his organization JKLF. And that too, in a program on a global channel. He and his organization killed those who also had children who cared about their father.

Her so-called address is motivated by only two factors. The first is an attempt by Pakistan to squeeze the last available benefit from Yasin that it could. The second is the invincible ignorance of minor Razia, which is being exploited by the ISI.

Afghan women protest against closure of beauty salons by Taliban

Amidst the echoes of history repeating itself, the capital city of Kabul became a battleground for women’s rights once again. On a fateful Wednesday, approximately 50 courageous women gathered and raised their voice against the closure of Beauty Salons. They raised the slogans of”work, bread, and justice.” Their plea, however, was met with forceful opposition from the Taliban guards who responded with water cannons, and some reports even suggested the use of stun guns against the protesters.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, women’s rights have been increasingly curtailed. They have been barred from classrooms, gyms, and parks, their presence systematically erased from public spaces. More recently, the ban extended to working for the United Nations, further shrinking their opportunities for economic empowerment.

The closure of beauty salons, marks another painful chapter in Afghanistan’s history of gender inequality. On July 2, Taliban announced a one-month deadline for the closure of every beauty salon across Afghanistan. Taliban justifies these actions by claiming that the wearing of wigs and eyebrow-plucking contradict Islamic values.

However, these justifications are seen by many as mere smokescreens, concealing a deeper agenda of repressing women’s autonomy and perpetuating a patriarchal ideology. The international community has expressed strong condemnation, but the Taliban remains resolute in their stance.

Haunting Memories Of Past

The scenes were reminiscent of a dark past when the Taliban last ruled from 1996 to 2001. During those years, Afghan women endured severe restrictions on their rights and freedoms. The closure of beauty salons, a haunting reminder of those oppressive times, now threatens to strip away 60,000 jobs from the women of Afghanistan. Eventually, the closure would leave them even more marginalized and vulnerable.

Despite the harsh backlash against these measures, brave Afghan women have continued to defy these oppressive rules through sporadic protests. Their resilience is a testament to the unwavering spirit of those who refuse to be silenced.

As the struggle for women’s rights continues, the echoes of history serve as a stark reminder of the challenges ahead. The repressive policies enforced by the Taliban threaten to push Afghan women back into the shadows, erasing the hard-fought progress made over the years.

Renewed armed clashes erupt in Balochistan following temporary ceasefire

In the heart of Balochistan’s Khuzdar district lies Tehsil Wadh, a region gripped by escalating violence as two armed groups, led by BNP-Mengal chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Shafiq Mengal, engage in intense clashes. The recent clashes have transformed the area into a battlefront. After a temporary ceasefire, the clashes have again resumed.

The confrontations, which commenced on a Wednesday evening, saw the use of heavy weapons, prompting the suspension of traffic on the vital Quetta-Karachi highway. Sardar Akhtar Mengal and his supporters have accused Mir Shafiq Mengal of heading a notorious “death squad” backed by Pakistani forces. Allegedly responsible for spying on Baloch nationalists and forcibly disappearing individuals, these local militias seek to weaken Baloch nationalists ahead of the upcoming elections, with Sardar Akhtar Mengal himself in their crosshairs.

The situation has been further complicated by grave allegations levied against Shafiq Mengal by Baloch nationalists, activists, and journalists. Accused of numerous human rights violations, drug trafficking, kidnappings, and targeted killings in Wadh and Khuzdar regions, he has been linked to the discovery of over a hundred bodies in mass graves in 2014. These bodies bore signs of torture and had been defaced with lime, making identification impossible.

The confrontation, lasted over two hours before authorities intervened. The Khuzdar administration had managed to broker a temporary ceasefire until Thursday morning, with ongoing talks to establish a permanent resolution between the armed groups.

Efforts Of Reconciliation And Resumption Of Armed Clashes In Wadh

Amid the tense situation, Wadh’s markets and public areas have remained closed, forcing residents to stay confined to their homes. Despite the cessation of gunfire, armed men from both factions have entrenched themselves in their positions.

In light of the situation, Nawab Aslam Raisani, chief of Sarawan tribes, had called on Akhtar Mengal, Shafiq Mengal, and other tribal elders to pursue reconciliation following tribal customs. Stressing the importance of settling disputes peacefully, he warned that internal strife would only weaken the Baloch cause and play into the hands of their adversaries.

In response to the escalating situation, veteran rights activist Mama Qadeer Baloch, also Vice-Chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), had also made a heartfelt appeal to the Mengal tribe in Wadh. Urging them to resolve their disputes through traditional Baloch methods, he emphasized the need to prevent further fragmentation within the community and urged the intervention of the Khan of Kalat to facilitate negotiations between Akhtar Mengal and Shafiq Mengal.

While the negotiations were on the line, today the firing started once again, in which a civilian is allegedly injured. Akhtar Mengal’s daughter Benari Mengal has confirmed that the rockets have been launched over their house by the faction of Sharif Mengal.

The fatal Ahmedabad Iskcon bridge car crash,9 lives lost

A horrifying car accident at Ahmedabad’s ISCKON Bridge claimed the lives of nine people, including a police constable, early Thursday morning. The incident involved a speeding Jaguar car that crashed into a group of people who had gathered at the scene of a previous accident. The driver of the car, Tathya Patel, and his father, Prajnesh Patel, were arrested by the Gujarat police in connection to the incident.

The accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. when the Jaguar car, reportedly traveling at a speed of 160 kmph, collided with the group of bystanders. Among the victims, five individuals died on the spot, while four others succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Thirteen people were injured in the tragic incident and were immediately rushed to various hospitals for medical attention.

Disturbing footage of the accident surfaced on social media, capturing the high-speed car plowing into the crowd and throwing some victims into the air. The video was captured by a passing motorcyclist who happened to be present at the scene when the tragedy unfolded.

According to Satellite police station inspector K. Y. Vyas, the accident originated from an earlier collision between a Thar (SUV) and a dumper at the same location. Upon receiving information about the initial accident, local traffic police and a Home Guard jawan had arrived at the scene to manage the situation and traffic flow. As a result of curiosity, bystanders also gathered at the spot to observe the aftermath.

In a heart-wrenching account, Altamash Quereshi, a survivor of the accident currently undergoing treatment at Sola Civil Hospital, recalled the harrowing moment. He stated, “Suddenly, a car came from behind and hit all of us. The speed of the car was extremely high. It plowed into the crowd.”

The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and announced an assistance amount of Rs 4 lakh for each victim’s kin. Additionally, Rs 50,000 was declared for those injured in the unfortunate incident.

Ex-NSUI leader Shahid arrested in Rajasthan Love Jihad case

Yet another case of love jihad has surfaced in Rajasthan, where a radical Islamist guised himself as a Hindu in Bhilwara district to trap a girl. First, he trapped the girl and later blackmailed her.

Shahid Khan, aka Mohd. Shahid Ghori, a manager in a cell phone network company, guised himself as Manish Sen and befriended a girl on social media.  Later, the girl, who is a student in local college, was intoxicated by Shahid through a drink. During her unconsciousness, Shahid took her obscene pictures and started blackmailing her using them.  He threatened the girl that he would make the pictures public and forcefully took her to his room. When she learnt his original identity, she fled from the house and told everything to her family. In no time, the girl reached out to the police and registered an FIR in Kotwali Police Station, following which, the Police arrested Shahid.

When Police searched his rented room they found various fake aadhar cards, one with the name Manish Sen that he himself edited. Along with that, some documents related to his original identity have also been found. Shahid belonged to Badshah Jhanda in Pali, Rajasthan. On further enquiry, it was also revealed that the room was rented by him and he introduced himself as Manish to the owner.

As per reports, Shahid had been an active member of NSUI and even won an election of Joint Secretary in 2014-15 from Bangad College in Pali. In past 10 years, he rented various rooms in Pali and Bhilwada with fake identities. As of now, Police is investigating Shahid’s background as police suspects him to be a serial offender, who may have trapped many more girls.

Oppenheimer and the hype around it – What’s the buzz all about?

Though hundreds of movies keep releasing every week, there are very few that come with a huge buzz around it. In recent times, if there is one movie that people have been raving about, waiting with bated breaths to watch on the big screens, and circulating different theories about, it has got to be Oppenheimer, directed by one of the passionate directors Hollywood has ever seen, Christopher Nolan.

What’s with this movie and the hype around it?

Christopher Nolan himself!

Do we need another reason to look forward to a movie after hearing this name? Christopher Nolan’s movies have always been well-received, and he has got an immense fan following all over the globe. People fall in love with his filmography, and Oppenheimer seems to be no different from the rest of Nolan’s works. Based on the biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer (father of the atomic bomb), this movie has been in the news ever since it was announced.

This movie became an instant headline a few months ago, when news broke out that Nolan didn’t use any CGI or VFX effects to show the atomic bomb explosions in the movie. Set in the period between 1942 and 1946, the movie talks about Oppenheimer’s contribution to the not-so-famous Manhattan Project then. How Nolan could have shown this, and what immense quality of camera work would have gone into making this movie?

These questions and more have created a lot of hype for the movie.

Stellar Star Cast

The first thing that strikes movie buffs about Oppenheimer is its stellar star cast. Nolan has managed to pull off a casting coup of sorts with this movie, as he has directed some brilliant performers like Cillian Murphy (lead role), Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Tony Goldwyn and more! Nolan reuniting with Cillian Murphy is something that every fan is looking forward to, in this movie.

After giving brilliant performances in the Nolan-directed movies like Batman Begins, Inception and Dunkirk, Cillian Murphy, the talented Irish actor, is back in Oppenheimer, playing the titular role, much to the excitement of movie buffs.

An uncomfortable slice of history being shown

Audiences are waiting to see the angle of American history that Nolan would showcase in this movie. There are going to be glimpses of the infamous Japan bombing that led to the loss of thousands of innocent lives, and Nolan’s movie is expected to start a debate on nuclear weapons and their impact on a nation.

We can’t wait to see how Nolan would depict tragedy on the large screen. The news about Nolan using real explosions and practical effects to mimic the Trinity Test instead of CGI has only fuelled the expectations about the movie.

An incredible IMAX experience is guaranteed!

Nolan had last partnered with Warner Brothers in 2000 to distribute his movie. In 2021, when Warner Brothers had decided to release their movies in theatres and OTT platforms like HBO at the same time, Nolan heavily objected to this.

Nolan wanted his movie Oppenheimer to be an exclusive theatrical release only, mainly because it was shot in 65mm, a fact that can be appreciated only on large screens. Audiences have already booked their IMAX tickets in advance for this movie to enjoy the opulence and scale that Nolan had planned for them.

Catch the IMAX experience of Oppenheimer at a theatre near you on the 21st, and you are sure to get transported into a different world altogether!

Pakistan wants bloodshed in Balochistan before fake elections – BNM

As Pakistan gears up for its upcoming fake elections, tensions in Balochistan are expected to rise further. The Baloch National Movement (BNM) spokesperson has issued a grave warning, that Pakistan wants bloodshed in Balochistan during the so-called elections. The statement points to a disturbing trend of enforced disappearances, human rights violations, and state oppression that casts a dark shadow over the electoral process.

According to the BNM spokesperson, enforced disappearances have become a coercive tool employed by Pakistan to force individuals into voting, instilling fear through increased state oppression. Past elections have witnessed a notable rise in human rights violations and enforced disappearances, raising concerns about the fairness and legitimacy of the electoral process in the region.

The situation in Balochistan has escalated to a troubling extent, with military killings and enforced disappearances on the rise. The process of recovering forcefully missing persons has also seen a decline, adding to the anguish and distress of affected families. The situation has further deteriorated by the recent reports of enforced disappearances in Dera Bugti. Along with that, unabated killings and disappearances in Awaran and Kech districts have heightened apprehensions among the Baloch population.

Pak Instigated Violence Causing Mental Turmoil

The spokesperson attributed the violence perpetuated by the Pakistan Army in Balochistan to an increase in mental illness and suicide among the youth, leading to a surge in fear and anxiety throughout society. The situation has further exacerbated the existing sense of unrest and instability in the region.

Of particular concern is the claim that the Pakistan Army is allegedly attempting to create a civil war-like scenario in Balochistan, intending to cause extensive violence during the elections. The motive behind this move is purportedly to mask their crimes against humanity, presenting them as a political or tribal conflict. In areas like Wadh, the Pakistan Army is actively conspiring through death squads to pave the way for the establishment of a puppet government.

The spokesperson asserted that the Baloch people must remain vigilant and wise in comprehending the circumstances to prevent the occupying state’s sinister intentions. As, unity and a cohesive society are seen as vital elements in countering potential violence and safeguarding their rights and future.
