Iran warns Israel of stronger response to any retaliation

Tehran has issued a stern warning amid heightened tensions in Iran-Israel conflict, cautioning against any retaliation following Tehran’s recent drone and missile attacks. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized that any reckless behavior from Israel or its supporters would result in a decisive and more forceful response from Iran.

“If the Zionist regime [Israel] or its supporters demonstrate reckless behaviour, they will receive a decisive and much stronger response,” Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said in a statement on Sunday.

Major-General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s military chief, echoed this sentiment, stating that a much larger retaliation awaits Israel if it chooses to retaliate against Iran.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Iranian retaliation was conveyed directly to the United States. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Amir Abdollahian, has revealed that Tehran had informed the US of the planned attack 72 hours in advance, emphasizing that the strikes were intended to be limited and for self-defense. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander, Hossein Salami, warned of retaliation against any Israeli attacks on Iranian interests, officials, or citizens, asserting that Iran would respond from its own territory.

He said, “From now on, whenever Israel attacks Iranian interests… we will attack from Iran.”

Iran avoided escalation

This development marks a significant shift in Iran’s approach, as it has traditionally avoided direct conflict with Israel and preferred to act through proxies in other regions. However, recent events, including an Israeli strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria, put an obligation on Iran to respond. Evidently, reports prior to the attacks mentioned that Iran has conveyed to US that it’s attack would be Iran’s attempt to convey its attack as controlled and non-escalatory underscores its desire to avoid further tensions.

While Iran has invoked Article 51 of the United Nations Charter seeking its right to retaliate, the intensity of condemnation towards Iran’s attack contrasts with previous Israeli actions in Syria. Besides, Israel has indicated its readiness to take appropriate action at the appropriate time. Iran’s warning serves as a clear message to the West to prevent escalation, as any failure to do so could lead to a dangerous cycle of retaliation with potentially grave and uncontrolled consequences.

Pakistan murders Sarabjit Singh’s killer Amir Sarfaraz to cover-up conspiracy

Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, a key suspect in the murder case of Sarabjit Singh and a known associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in a targeted attack in Lahore on Sunday.

Tamba was ambushed by assailants riding a motorcycle near his residence in Lahore. According to reports, he sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and legs during the attack. In December 2018, a Pakistani court acquitted Tamba and another prime suspect, Mudassar, in the Sarabjit Singh murder case, citing insufficient evidence against them.

The Lahore sessions court’s verdict came after all witnesses turned hostile, leading to the acquittal of both suspects due to lack of evidence. In response to Tamba’s death, Swapandeep Kaur, daughter of Sarabjit Singh, alleged Pakistan’s involvement in his assassination. She expressed her belief that the Pakistani government orchestrated Tamba’s killing to conceal secrets he may have possessed. Kaur accused Pakistan of being complicit in her father’s death and claimed that the assassination was part of a cover-up conspiracy.

Kaur emphasized that her family seeks justice and a trial to uncover the motives behind her father’s murder. Reports suggest that Tamba was also associated with terrorist Hafiz Saeed, notorious for his role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Kaur’s reaction suggests a suspicion of a new policy by Pakistan, wherein it eliminates its terrorist proxies, possibly to evade future exposures and to create a narrative that could implicate India in alleged extrajudicial killings in Pakistan. This suspicion aligns with recent propaganda pieces by The Guardian, based on purported statements from ISI sources, aimed at accusing India of orchestrating such killings.

China’s projects in Pak-occupied Balochistan cause floods, heavy losses reported

Heavy rain wreaked havoc in Pasni city on Sunday. Water has entered various areas of Pasni, in Pak-occupied Balochistan streets, markets, and houses. There are reports of houses collapsing. Earlier in March, heavy rains did not spare Gwadar, prompting residents and organizations to hold Pakistan and Chinese projects accountable.

Infrastructural projects that Pak Army has carried along with China has led to the inundation of the city and heightening tensions among the affected population. Not only is the infrastructure in shambles but the lives of innocent Baloch community members have been uprooted entirely.

Meanwhile, across the border in Afghanistan, the toll from adverse weather conditions has been equally grim. Recent snowfall, rain, and subsequent flooding have claimed the lives of at least 33 people, with an additional 27 reported injured. Flash floods have ravaged communities, leaving 606 homes either partially or destroyed.

“According to preliminary statistics, unfortunately, thirty-three people have died and twenty-seven others have been injured due to the recent floods. Similarly, 606 homes have been either partially or destroyed,” said Janan Saiq, spokesperson for the Taliban-controlled State Ministry of Disaster Management.

Saiq further stated that the provinces of Farah, Herat, Zabul, and Kandahar suffered excessive losses.

“The majority of the casualties were in the provinces of Farah, Herat, Zabul, and Kandahar, with most victims coming from Kandahar province,” he said.

Both Pak-occupied Balochistan and Afghanistan are among the most vulnerable countries to natural disasters, including floods, earthquakes, avalanches, landslides, and droughts.

Nushki (POB) attack targets Pak Army depot; 11 dead

In Pak-occupied-Balochistan, a group of unidentified individuals opened fire on a vehicle and a passenger bus, killing 11 people, including nine from Punjab.

The attack took place on Friday night in Nushki district, when the individuals blocked the Quetta-Nushki-Taftan N-40 National Highway. The incident happened at around 7:00 p.m. when the armed individuals on their motorbikes blocked a highway. In just 3 k.m.from the city center, dozens of armed individuals blockaded the main highway. The attack targeted an area with significant security presence – an arms depot of the Pak Army is located nearby, and there are two other military posts within one to two k.m. radius.

The individuals spent over two hours stopping and searching vehicles on the highway, checking the identification cards of the passengers. During the attack, the attackers also destroyed the nearby railway track through an explosion. Concurrently, they launched a sustained rocket and weapons assault on the adjacent arms depot, which continued for more than 20 minutes.

Nushki Deputy Commissioner Habibullah Musakhel said the armed men stopped vehicles and started checking passengers’ identification cards.

During the checking, the individuals opened fire on a car, causing it to overturn. A relative of a local politician, former BAP, was killed and four others were injured in the shooting. Two more people were killed with four others injured when the individuals fired upon another vehicle and a motorbike after they refused to stop for snap-checking.

The individuals then stopped a passenger bus traveling from Quetta to Taftan. They checked the passengers’ IDs and abducted nine people who were from Punjab. The bodies of these nine abducted individuals were later found under a bridge, all having been shot dead. Following the attack, the puppet security forces have kicked off a search operation in the area.

The murdered men were identified as laborers from Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad and Gujranwala who were heading to Taftan. The individuals also fired rockets at a Frontier Corps depot, but there were no casualties. However, it is worth noting that the military has always been reluctant to fully acknowledge or provide details about attacks on its own facilities and personnel.

Meanwhile, Pak-occupied-Balochistan’s puppet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and puppet Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti offered condolences to the victims’.

The region is a hotbed of revolutionary forces, and while no freedom fighter group has claimed responsibility, it can be concluded that this might be the work of the brave Baloch sarmachars (freedom fighters).

This attack is very complex and interesting because the armed individuals blocked the main highway, which was in close proximity to a Pak Army camp, and they took their time to complete the work. This shows bravery and defiance against the brutal force that has captured the resource-rich region of Balochistan, turning it into a nightmare.

Pak-occupied Balochistan is currently experiencing systematic genocide based on its identity, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, military operations, forced displacements, economic oppression, and other atrocities.

Lone assailant stabs people in Australia’s shopping mall; kills 5 & injures several

Five victims have tragically lost their lives while over 8 have been injured following a frenzied stabbing attack by an armed lone assailant at a bustling Bondi Junction Westfield mall filled with Saturday shoppers in Sydney .

According to New South Wales Police, emergency calls from within Bondi Junction Westfield mall prompted the swift response of a lone police officer, who heroically confronted and fatally shot the attacker, potentially saving numerous lives.

Eight individuals have been hospitalized with knife wounds, including a baby, as a result of the vicious assault.

The heroic actions of a senior police officer, who was in the vicinity and swiftly intervened upon receiving emergency calls, have been credited with preventing further casualties. She courageously engaged the assailant and neutralized the threat when he brandished the knife.

Authorities have yet to ascertain the identity of the perpetrator, and there is no indication at this stage of any political or religious motives behind the attack. As per the video footage, an assailant wearing shorts and kangaroo jersey ran inside the mall with knife in hand.

Australian Prime Minister condemned the heinous act, expressing solidarity with the affected individuals and their families. He conveyed gratitude to the first responders and medical personnel attending to the injured.

In a show of support, New Zealand MP from Remutaka, Chris Hipkins, extended condolences to the victims’ families and emphasized the sizable Kiwi population residing in the area. He conveyed heartfelt sentiments to all affected by the tragedy, acknowledging the shared grief across the Tasman Sea.

Iran’s imminent attack on US-backed Israel expected within hours

Countries including India, Russia, France, Poland and the UK have warned their citizens against travelling to Israel, amid threats of an Iranian attack in response to a strike this month on its consulate in Damascus. This comes amid reports that Iran will likely launch a direct attack on Israel within the next 48 hours.

Hezbollah,a proxy of Iran in Lebanon launched a barrage of rockets on the northern part of Israel yesterday (12 April), claiming it to be the retaliatory strike on Israeli artillery positions in response to the recent airstrikes on southern Lebanese villages and civilian homes.

Tensions have been brewing in the Middle East for over 180 days, since the Hamas launched a massacring intrusion in Israel leading to a full-scale US backed counter offensive by the latter, marking the biggest Israeli attack in Gaza to date. After the latest Israeli strikes in Syria, targeting Iranian embassy, the attack on Israel is imminent. US, which has been one of the most crucial factors for the middle east fiasco, has confirmed that Iran will attack Israel to the North or east by upcoming 24 hours. Going by Joe Biden’s word, the attack will be ‘sooner than later‘. Based on its intel, US has sent a warship in the region to protect Israel.

US advisory to it’s officials confirm the possibility of retaliation

This seems more happening as before opening up on intelligence, US had issued an advisory to it’s officials in Israel restricting them from travelling outside Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other major cities. Same happened during the recent Russian attack, when US issued advisory to it’s citizens sometime before the terrorist attack on the concert hall in Moscow. Evidently, the war has opened a Pandora’s box of events that has made the situation even more delicate each time. US’ interference in the region has only exacerbated the situation as it’s animosity with Iran made this one-on-one war between Israel and Hamas, a multifaceted one. However, Iran earlier has attacked Israeli and US assets through it’s proxies like Hezbollah, Houthis and IRI. But now, leave aside Iran backed militias, an Israeli attack on Iranian embassy in Syria has opened gateway for a direct Iranian involvement.

US creates confusion

US has, since the embassy attack, employed the tactic of ‘carrot and stick’ with on one hand, it asked countries like China to press Iran to refrain from taking any action while on the other, it gave a stern warning to Iran that it will support Israel in case it makes an attack. President Joe Biden has clearly stated that Israel can rely on the ‘Iron-clad’ backing of United States. But as history tells us, US can’t be relied upon such situations. Instead of condemning and setting Israel responsible for the embassy attack, US has committed to support it only because to initiate a direct conflict between Israel and Iran and weaken Iran in the process. It did the same with Ukraine. At first, it threatened Russia and when the latter reacted, US left Ukraine alone in the war with just weaponry and no military support.

Nevertheless, seeing the heightened tensions, India, France, Poland and Russia have also issued advisory to it’s citizens asking them not to travel to Israel or Iran.

Gulf waking up to reality

Reportedly, Iran has conveyed to the US that if it gets involved, Iran would attack it’s troops and bases in the region. And now Gulf countries have warned US to not use its bases on their soil for retaliation to Iranian response to Israel. Clearly countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE and others are changing their mindset about Iran as they know regional peace can only be achieved with cooperation nit coercion. They are also moving to prevent US warplanes from flying over their airspace in the event the US conducts a retaliatory strike on Iran.

Certainly, lots of diplomacy is being played on and off the table by both Iran and US. Amidst the possibility of attack, even after 12 days of Iranian embassy fiasco, Iran has succeeded to maintain a strategic domination. While the attack is bound to happen, Iran’s fallout containment approach and stern warning leave large space of speculations open. Whatsoever, the attack is bound to happen, it is just the intensity of the attack and the subsequent reaction of Israel, that would decide the course of the conflict , which for now, seems to start spill over. On the contrary, the one who is providing oxygen to the conflict is only to benefit by maintaining it’s hegemony over Iran, the biggest contender of US in middle East.

Pakistan faces heavy UN criticism over forced marriage conversion of minor girls

UN human rights experts have strongly criticized Pakistan for failing to protect young women and girls belonging to religious minority communities, particularly Christians and Hindus from horrific abuses.

The experts stated that these girls remain highly vulnerable to a range of human rights violations, including forced religious conversion, abduction, trafficking, child and forced marriage, domestic servitude, and sexual violence. They emphasized that the exposure of these young women and girls to such “heinous human rights violations”. Shockingly, the perpetrators of these crimes often go unpunished, with puppet authorities dismissing the cases as “love marriages.”

The experts noted with alarm that forced marriages and religious conversions of girls from religious minorities are often validated by the courts, with perpetrators escaping accountability as the crimes are dismissed as “love marriages.” They stressed that child, early, and forced marriage cannot be justified on religious or cultural grounds, and that under international law, consent is irrelevant when the victim is a child under 18.

Forced Conversions and Marriages

Highlighting specific cases, the experts mentioned the abduction and forced conversion of a young girl named Mishal Rasheed in 2022, as well as the alleged abduction, forced conversion, and marriage of a 13-year-old Christian girl last month. They made it clear that any change of religion must be completely voluntary, without coercion.

The UN experts called on the Pak authorities to take immediate action. This includes enacting and strictly enforcing laws to ensure that marriages are entered into only with the full consent of both parties, and raising the minimum age for marriage to 18 for girls.

“A woman’s right to choose a spouse and freely enter into marriage is central to her life, dignity, and equality as a human being,” the experts stated, urging the authorities to end the impunity for these horrific crimes and uphold Pakistan’s international human rights obligations.

However, despite recurring incidents of targeted abductions and conversions, the law enforcement has mostly remained numb while taking the action. The gruesome condition of minorities in Pakistan mostly goes unnoticed adding further distress and agony for the victim, their family and community.

China’s fast fashion company Shein faces boycott for indulging in Uyghur forced labour

The Save Uyghur Organisation, a human rights group, has initiated a boycott campaign against the Chinese online fast-fashion retailer Shein, for the company’s involvement in the forced labor of Uyghur Muslims in China.

As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid ul-Fitr, the group has specifically called on Muslim women to refrain from purchasing from Shein, which is known for its affordable offerings of religious garments like jilbabs (a full-length, loose-fitting garment covering the head to toe).

Arslan Hidayat, the head of the Save Uyghur campaign, emphasized the importance for Muslims to use their consumer power to protest the use of forced labor and to demonstrate solidarity with the Uyghur community.

“It is crucial for Muslims to use their consumer power to protest against the use of forced labour and to demonstrate solidarity with the Uyghur community,” Hidayat told the Voice of America.

The campaign is being driven by the Chicago-based human rights organization ‘Justice for All,’ which advocates for stopping “China’s genocide of the Uyghurs and other Turkic people of East Turkistan.”

The Save Uyghur Organisation argues that Shein’s use of forced labor exacerbates the oppression of the Uyghur people. The group has urged the Muslim community to prioritize ethical consumption practices and advocate for justice for the Uyghur population.

The list of atrocities being inflicted on Uyghurs is terrifying. While indoctrination and forced labour in internment camps under garb of “re-education and vocational training” is used to alter their political outlook, forcing Uyghurs to consume alcohol and pork as well as discouraging fasting during Ramadan is used to destroy their religious beliefs. In addition, mass sterilization and intrauterine contraceptive device implantation programs are employed to systematically reduce the Uyghur population to an insignificant minority.

Voice of Missing Persons Sindh organises protest camp; demands freedom of missing Sindhi workers

Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh, in collaboration with the ‘Sindh Sajagi Forum,’ convened a protest camp in support of the liberation of missing Sindhi laborers.

According to the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS), the protest camp was established on Wednesday night and persisted until Thursday noon.

VMPS conveyed, “On behalf of Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh and Sindh Sajagi Forum, a protest camp was set up for the freedom of all missing Sindhi workers from last night Eid night till noon today.”

Criticizing what they perceive as the Sindh government’s incompetence, demonstrators expressed their frustration regarding the inability to locate and rescue Kumari, abducted from Sukkur just days ago.Displaying placards, protestors vehemently condemned what they deemed the routine abduction of innocent Hindu girls in Sindh and highlighted the worsening security conditions for religious minorities.

Notably, the brutal assassination of Sindhi nationalist Hidayat Lohar by the Pakistan Army and the year-long case of missing girl child Priya Kumari have sparked a wave of unrest in Sindh. A series of protests have ensued in both cases with similar outcomes of atrocious handling and no resolution.

These incidents have once again underscored that the only means of survival in Sindh is through silence and ignorance in the face of persecution. Any dissenting voice is met with extra-judicial force.
