Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) attacked a Chinese national in Karachi on Tuesday in a clear warning and message to Beijing that it must stop the loot of Balochistan’s natural resources along with Pakistan. BLF spokesman Major Gwahram Baloch claimed responsibility for this attack on the Chinese national in Karachi.

“In the Baghdadi area of Lyari, Baloch Sarmachaars (freedom fighters) targeted a Chinese citizen who was on government parole in Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB). China’s direct intervention in Balochistan and partnership in Pakistan’s repressive policies is not acceptable under any circumstances. We have warned China and Chinese employees about this long ago. Pakistan is committing genocide of Baloch. If China or any other country supports Pakistan in this crime then we have the right to defend ourselves,” Major Gwahram Baloch, spokesman BLF said in a media statement.

Major Gwahram Baloch added that the locals should stay away from these imperialist Chinese agents. “We warn foreign investors once again to refrain from investing here (Balochistan).”

The Unmeasurable Genius And The Infinite Jewel 2 – Heart Meets Heart

Scott Douglas Jacobsen: Another important part of or side of life together with someone, apart from the idealism, is practical application, simply the enjoyable to the modestly annoying activities of life, e.g., chores to fresh clothes, plain steamed broccoli in a random shack to a spicy roast beef sandwich at Wolfie’s Miami Beach, kale to peanut butter & jelly sandwich, black licorice and hard candy to chocolate fudge cake and Entenmann’s chocolate fudge, or a trip to the dentist to a trip to the beach. The little things, what comes to mind when you think about the little things in a life with a partner?

Mr. Christian Sorensen: She is like king Midas, because everything she touches turns into gold, I always tell her that with her hands she works wonders. For everything, seeks balance and ideal harmony. Though I have never been able to understand, why  tends to place all things on the edge of surfaces, I think she does so, because knows how to balance them so they don’t fall off.  Has the creativity, to repair everything, and transform it into something optimal.  Permanently, orders my mess, but after, I never can’t  find anything when I look for it back.  Believes we are like Pinky and the Brain.  Generally, while I take things very seriously,  on the other hand, she reduces the gravity out of them, in order to  make me relax.  She takes her time for everything, and  has an infinite patience, which sometimes makes me nervous.   Always, acts very calmly, while I habitually run the engine, with past revs. Says that I walk at a speed, that is impossible for anyone to follow.  According to her, normally people reason differently from me,  for that motif, they do not give so much importance to things, and which it’s worse, they are not prepared to hear the truth that comes out of my mouth. She has never wanted to change my way of being, although  patiently suggests, that I should be more empathetic and understanding, with the rest of humanity, regarding the fact of having ten brains in the same head, and since proportionally speaking, normal people are to me, as they’re in relation to those with mental retardation.  I have always said, that she came to this life, for helping  the world, but particularly, to correct and help me in order to be a better person. Despite all the atrocities, that has had to live,  and of never  having received any real and effective help, from human rights and feminist organizations, which apparently only provides assistance to non-Jewish nor Israeli women, matter of which,  she’s deeply disappointed, even though has being, a staunch defender of human and women’s rights, I believe is the most resilient person that exists.

Mrs. Sorensen: Here there’s  a perfect balance, because he eats and I cook. I do everything, and he writes.  He is obsessive and messy at the same time,  but has an orderly disorder. Hates getting up early, and goes to bed very late writing. Though uses to talk while sleeping  about what he writes, and rests intermittently a couple of hours, awakes recovered as if had slept for hours. Usually he stares into space, and solves mathematical equations, that no one could solve for months or maybe never.  Has an extraordinary love and patience with animals,  though not with people, since  does not resist, that they do not think logically, in front of rationally obvious questions.  Believes that everyone can ride at the speed of a Ferrari, while does not realize that humanity travels at the speed of a Vespa.  Dresses only in black t-shirts, jeans and sneakers. For everything, he is minimalist, which indeed is a question, that I myself, have learned to apply, because  I find, that this is an example, of how he makes a logical and rational sense, for everything.  He is an hypochondriac, does not like doctors, nor tolerates confined places or crowds, even though dislikes to be alone. He loves to be outdoors and in contact with nature. Anything someone says, is going to be deeply and semantically processed, in his head, until it is completely shredded, and as if it were an alchemy formula, will appear like an outcome, completely exhausted of meaning, and reduced to the minimal  expression of something,   An example of the last, was once, when we were dating, and we were walking  to eat sushi: he gave  a two-hour conference, for explaining me the difference, that exists, between simply loving and truly loving someone.  For him,  there is only a yes or a no as  answer.  Never tolerates lukewarmness, nor forgives disloyalty.  Always respects, the spaces of others.  Above all, seeks the truth and does not bear injustice.  He is absolutely convinced, that women are smarter and stronger than men, and that if G_d had gender, he would surely be a woman. For me it is impossible to get bored, because I am always learning new and exciting things from him.

Jacobsen: What are the enjoyable little things a partner should do, in a marriage – both?

Mr. Sorensen: I think, that to be able to guess small details, that she may like or cheer her up, and give them to her as a surprise.

Mrs. Sorensen: The fact of sharing daily activities, with a positive and collaborative disposition, while enjoying each other’s personal achievements.

Jacobsen: What are the annoying little things a partner should avoid, in a marriage – both?

Mr. Sorensen: The fact of not maintaining her order and cleanliness. Not respecting her times and  rushing her. Telling things too directly and realistically.  Not understanding her language, that’s less analytical and digital,  and more analog and  creative.

Mrs. Sorensen: It’s important to avoid wondering around with a daily negative predisposition, that leads to getting angry about everything, and thereby breaking the harmony of the home.  I shouldn’t interrupt him when he writes, but that is difficult for me to do, since I like to talk to him.

Jacobsen: What are some prototypically husband must-haves in a marriage, the non-negotiables?

Mr. Sorensen: He should always love  and protect her,  promoting at all times, its development and integral personal self-realization.

Mrs. Sorensen: Fidelity in all its senses, and that I can fully trust him.  That he loves me, at the same time that understands my feelings, and   supports by being a confident and counselor, all my projects throughout life. That he makes me laugh, with his black and ironic sense of humor.

Jacobsen: What are some prototypically wife must-haves in a marriage, the non-negotiables?

Mr. Sorensen: An absolute unconditionality.

Mrs. Sorensen: A woman, regarding her husband, should  have love and always be faithful in every way with him. Contribute and be patient, with a good dose of humor, to the  construction of marriage.

Jacobsen: What are some prototypically husband nice-to-haves in a marriage, the negotiables?

Mr. Sorensen: I think that to have the ability to make boring jokes, that is necessary to explain, so that they understand them,  and to have a good rhythm for dancing and doing the clown.

Mrs. Sorensen: That every day he is thorough,  by having the capacity to surprise me, and  to make me happy with simple things.

Jacobsen: What are some prototypically wife nice-to-haves in a marriage, the negotiables?

Mr. Sorensen: Personally and figuratively, I consider  pleasurable, for a woman to be estrogenic, and to smell like feminine pheromones, and not something else. In other words, that she assumes herself, in my opinion, for what symbolically she is.

Mrs. Sorensen: When the husband is an epicurean, to know how to prepare his  favorite dish, deliciously. This always leaves him with a smile, and it makes his day.

Jacobsen: Mr. Sorensen, what do you find men complain and compliment most about in their wives to their guy friends?

Mr. Sorensen: Generally, men of my age, suffer from what I denominate as fifteen-year-old regression, which leads them to talk, more about their new conquests with adolescent women, than about their wifes, and where megalopotent feats and compensatory resources, such as sildenafil and vehicles of  high end, play a preponderant role.

Jacobsen: Mrs. Sorensen, what do you find women complain and compliment most about in their husbands to their gal friends?

Mrs. Sorensen: In my particular case, I have never talked about my husband with my gal friends, nor would I.  However, from them,  the most frequent complaint I have heard,  is that they feel suffocated with their husbands, since they do not give them enough space.  Generally they claim to be happy, when he is not at home, or when they do not have to go on vacation together.  Some, despite being feminists, complain because their men, do not give them enough money for their personal expenses, to which I usually reply, that if they are so feminist, they should be then more consistent, and spend their own money.  Usually when they praise their husbands, they never do it regarding sentimental matters, but only to show off the gifts and comforts, given by them.

Jacobsen: Thank you for the opportunity and your time, Mrs. and Mr. Sorensen.

Mr. Sorensen: Quite so!

Mrs. Sorensen: Thanks to you, for such a pleasant interview, we have laughed a lot answering it.

BNM monthly meet reiterates commitment for Balochistan independence

The Baloch National Movement (BNM) Diaspora took several crucial decisions at its recently concluded monthly meeting and reiterated the resolve to continue their struggle for Balochistan’s freedom from Pakistan. This BNM meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr Naseem Baloch, Organizer of BNM Diaspora Committee and was addressed by Nabi Bakhsh Baloch, Hakeem Baloch, Asghar Ali, Nako Sattar and Gwahram Baloch while a large number of Baloch people attended this meeting.

Addressing the online meeting, Dr. Naseem Baloch paid tribute to the Baloch who attained martyrdom in February and said “…since the beginning of our national slavery in 1948, the month of February also has a long list of martyrs. From Shaheed Yasmeen, Shuhadae Totak, Shaheed Mehboob Wadila, Shaheed Master Rehman Arif. And  this continues till date. Since then, Baloch are continuously being forcibly disappeared and killed.”

Dr. Naseem Baloch added that Baloch are constantly struggling for their national independence, even as Pakistan continues its barbarism and is engaged in genocide across Balochistan. “Pakistan has always betrayed the Baloch nation in the name of dialogue and deceit. Be it the conversation with Babu Nowruz or a recent conversation with the heads of organization of the victims of enforced disappearances. Some people maybe released in this process. But in reality, if two people are released, Pakistan would whisk away four people in order to maintain its barbarism and exert pressure on the Baloch.”

Dr Naseem Baloch, Organizer BNM Diaspora Committee

Dr Naseem Baloch reiterated that Balochistan’s relationship with Pakistan is one of occupier and occupied. “As I speak of reaction, whenever the state reacts, it proves that an action is taking place, and this reaction by Pakistan shows the weakness of the state. States don’t react with cruelty, but generally deal with such matters democratically, legally or constitutionally. But the Baloch struggle has panicked Pakistan. The Baloch National struggle has made significant strides both within Balochistan and in the diaspora.  Therefore, in response to our movement, Pakistan is committing genocide against us in an undemocratic, illegal and barbaric manner.”

Dr. Naseem Baloch explained that it is our national responsibility to improve, organize and carry forward the struggle that our precedents have passed on to us, similarly, we can pass it on to our future generations. It is a regular part of political evolution and movement. Because people come and go, they are martyred, they may be imprisoned, they may die a natural death, but the struggle is a continuous process, if we succeed in passing it on to another generation in a better way, it will be easier for the next generation.

Nabi Bakhsh Baloch, a BNM North American activist, said that Baloch martyrs are immortal. “If today the name of Baloch is referred  in any corner of the world that is the outcome of Baloch martyrs’ sacrifices.” Nabi Baksh Baloch added that inside Balochistan, Pakistan has blocked all avenues for our political struggle, therefore, at the diaspora level, we have more opportunities and responsibilities. “We need to put the Baloch national case before the international community. But when the people associated with the diaspora become fearful, it will be a victory for the state (Pakistan) and the state cronies. Wherever we are, in whatever forum we are in, we must prove that the Baloch National Movement is working in line with international principles or the UN Charter.”

Nabi Bakhsh Baloch, BNM North America Activist

Nabi Bakhsh Baloch added that there are serious human rights issues in Balochistan. It will continue to be so, but our struggle for national liberation and the issue of national liberation is more serious than the issue of human rights. “As Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch had said that every Baloch activist is an ambassador of the Baloch nation, we should consider what are our duties as an ambassador. Therefore, as a cadre, we should knock on the door of MPs, local government officials or parties and organizations in our respective areas. Here we must remember that in this process we should not expect quick results but constant and regular communication definitely gets a response.”

“If we look at the 20-years political journey, we can see the story in every individual of Balochistan. A long and never ending story. Martyrs in this journey, the greatness of the struggle, the long struggle and tears of our sisters, today we can be proud that the struggle for Baloch independence has reached all corners of the world. It is due to the sufferings, sacrifices, tears and sacrifices of the Baloch nation. He said that today the whole world is aware of the fact that the Baloch nation is committed to national liberation and our struggle is moving forward with full participation of our people,” said Nako Sattar in his address.

Nako Sattar added remembered the contributions of Rehman Arif and Mehboob Wadhela, who were very strong commentators and brave comrades and were committed to work for national cause. “Apart from as worker of the national struggle, Shaheed Rehman Arif was also a teacher, poet, speaker and writer. Today they are not among us but they have drawn the line with their blood and their sacrifices are leading lights for Baloch revolutionaries.”

Nako Sattar Baloch commended the role of Radio Zrumbesh and said that today Baloch media is fulfilling its responsibilities; especially Radio Zrumbash is working hard to bridge the gap. Their work is definitely commendable. He said that there should be space in politics. There should be an opportunity not only for party members but also for all levels of the movement. In my opinion, we should consciously give people a chance because in this age, the ability to hear is felt less. We need to close this gap.

“Our struggles and activities are not based on events. They should take place with an uninterrupted continuity as we can usually see that the activities on the events are intensifying.

Asghar Ali , General Secretary of the BNM Germany zone, said that forcing people to go missing is a psychological ploy adopted by any oppressive state. “At one point (Pakistani) state kills people and throws away bodies, buries them in mass graves but a large number languish in the dark  detention centres. It is basically a psychological attack against one’s enemy. Same is happening today with the Baloch nation. Pakistan treats us as occupied people and surely our relationship with Pakistan is of an occupier and occupied. That is why we are waging a national struggle against Pakistan.”

Asghar Ali, General Secretary BNM Germany Zone

Asghar Ali explained that behind this psychological attack or tactic is the factor or thinking that you gradually forget your people and this process reaches to a point where even the families of the victims of enforced disappearance forget their loved ones and are forced to think that their loved one is no more or that he has died in the enemy’s prison. In political science terms, it is called “frozen death.”

“Frozen death means that no matter whether your man is alive or dead, but slowly you start to forget your loved one, and then reach at a point where you stop thinking about him/her and ultimately in your psyche, you consider him/her dead. There have been similar experiments in Latin America. Even the governments there have taken care of the young children of the disappeared persons under the auspices of the state and as far as I remember, Pakistan has also made such an effort to educate the children of the Baloch missing persons. With this technique, the aim of the state is to eradicate the national ideology of oppressed people from the minds of children and penetrate colonial ideas. All Pakistan Army run schools in Balochistan are used for similar purposes to educate these children and in this way children can easily give up the Baloch ideology and ultimately they would become a part of Frozen Death.”

Asghar Baloch said that we as a party or as a nation have to keep our enforced missing persons alive. “Our human rights organizations should collect data as well as the party should use every avenue to collect data regarding the enforced disappearances. It is our responsibility to keep all enforced disappeared people alive through continuous data collection. They should be kept alive in psyche so that our people can survive this frozen death.”

Addressing the online meeting, Gwahram Baloch agreed with the points raised by Asghar Baloch. “It is our responsibility as a party to do more in this field. We need to connect with the families of enforced disappearances and collect data. We must work at the diaspora level, but the real focus of our struggle is the homeland Balochistan. We should work as full time workers and we need to fulfill our responsibilities and promote teamwork in the party. We know things should be done collectively because party affairs cannot be done on individual level.”

Pakistan is propping up Islamic State (IS) across Sindh

Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) released a statement stating that “….Islamic State (Daesh) is active in Pakistan and they are operating with the help and assistance of Pakistani intelligence agencies and Sindh is on their target.” The recent accident of minor Sindhi girl aged 17, Shugfta Laghari  from district Badin Sindh was brainwashed by a Daesh leader Ameer Muawiya of Jhang Punjab. She left home few days ago and reached the city of Jhang. She then got married and was absconding. Her social media message that went viral read as follows, “I am so restless, I want to give my life for religion and I have found my way, the true and righteous path.”

In 2017 the same kind of accident happened when a resident of Hussainabad, a suburb of Hyderabad, Sindh Noureen Leghari a second year medical student at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Science (LUMHS) went missing on 10 February 2017 from his native town and recovered after two months from Lahore on 17 April 2017 from Daesh organization camp. Sindh is land of peace, love and harmony. We Sindhis are a historical nation, Pakistan wants to destroy our secular identity to send a message to the world that Sindhi people are also terrorists by bringing Daesh (ISIL) and other radical Islamist groups in Sindh. Punjab wants to change us like them.

Within the last three decades a net of 34,000 new madrassas has been laid in various parts of Sindh. Populated cities of Sindh are especially targeted by these radical groups and they are carrying out this operation under a pre-engineered plan of Pakistani establishment and Pakistani intelligence agencies. If this process continues for a few more decades then there are possibilities that future generations will be impacted by this extremist ideology and Sindh will be changed completely. The secular identity will be wiped out totally.

These radical elements are operating in Sindh openly and recruiting people for Jihad, at the same time these Islamist terrorist organizations are used by ISI to harass and create fear among Sindhi people. Recently in Karachi, Sindh our two peaceful political rallies were attacked by these intelligence goons, one sit-in protest at the Karachi Press Club who was also attacked by Jamaat- ud-Dawa members.

If anyone thinks that fair elections, democracy, elected, selected, pro-secular groups, any political party or any other form of governance can make Pakistan better! Then the answer is a big no ! It is the truth. I am saying this in context to the recent political developments in Pakistan and Senate elections.

There is no Pakistani nation but historical nations like Sindh, Baloch and Pashtuns are forced to live under slavery of dominant Punjabi nation (military and Islamist radical groups). Until this issue isn’t addressed or solved and right to self determination is not given to these historical nations, this rogue state of Pakistan will remain a threat not only for the politically oppressed nations enchained in slavery of Punjab province but for world peace too. Persecution of Sindhi, Pashtun and Baloch nations was even same during PML(N) and PPP governments.

Pakistan must be disintegrated that is the only solution for prosperity of this region and world peace. It is time that practically the dream of a new world order of west, more nations, more borders, more markets and right to self-determination for everyone must start from Pakistan by giving freedom to all historical nations that at present are slaves of Pakistan. This must be done at the earliest before the expansionist Chinese Communist Party (CCP) take complete control this region.

I appeal to the UN, America, EU, Japan, India and Israel that Pakistan is continuously promoting terrorism as a state policy by harboring these thousands of international terrorist and various radical Islamist groups. We are living in fear to save historical secular Sindhi nation and strong actions must be taken against fundamentalist theocratic Pakistan!

Kashmir needs to save youth from indoctrination in terrorism

“I can say this with conviction that today we are able to manage the level of violence in the (Kashmir) Valley. The number of terrorists in the Valley are probably the lowest in one decade… and we would like to keep it that way so that people have some respite,” said Lt. General BS Raju, Corps Commander of the Srinagar-based 15 (Chinar) Corps in an interview to a Television channel a few days earlier.

The General put the total number of terrorists operating in the Kashmir Valley at a little over 200 of which about 125 are locals and 90 are infiltrators from Pakistan. This is indeed a very low number considering that many big cities would have a larger number of armed goons. Also, the present terrorist cadre is low on motivation, training, arms, ammunition and other stores which greatly reduce their strike capability.

A matter of concern is the large number of local cadre in the terrorist fold. These are innocent boys whose insecurities and frustrations are leveraged by the enemy to indoctrinate them into the path of terrorism. In the five year period from 2005 to 2010, the number of locals who joined the terrorist fold was as high as 600 plus. This was the time when Pakistan had been successful in creating poster boys like Burhan Wani who gave impetus to the “lure of terrorism.”

Click on the YouTube link to watch our news report

New Delhi took some affirmative steps to tap the flow; these were augmented with successful counter-terrorist operations by security forces on ground. The end result was a drastic decrease in the number of locals joining the fold of terrorism to about 160 in the period from 2010 to 2015. The numbers have further reduced but, sadly, the intake has not been stopped in totality.

Pakistan is absolutely determined to keep the flame of terrorism alive, at least in the Kashmir Valley if not the entire region. It is coming up with innovative ways to keep the tap flowing. Earlier the focus was on intimidation and indoctrination through the existing terrorist cadre and through persons from within the separatist cadre. A lot of money was invested in this project. With the number of foreign terrorists in the valley having reduced drastically; money flow curtailed and separatists marginalised, the aforementioned option for recruitment has become untenable.

The new methodology is massive propaganda campaigns through social media designed to attract Kashmir’s youth towards the path of terrorism by spread of misinformation. The rhetoric that is being used is unsubstantiated and inflammatory. The youth are told that by picking up the gun they are fighting a holy war. Sustained repetition has a psychological impact on vulnerable minds and the simple boys start believing this to be true. Once vulnerability is identified, the few recruiters available move in for the kill.

The objective is to lure boys from middle class to poor families who are frustrated due to lack of employment or those who are ready to sell their souls for a small amount of money. Drug addicts also form a large segment of the indoctrinated cadre even as some, in the flush of youth, join to impress girls.

The new age terrorist in Kashmir can safely be profiled as an indoctrinated local youth who is both ill-trained and ill-equipped. The instructions given are rudimentary; a rifle or a pistol with a few rounds are handed over and they are left to their own machinations. On top of it, they lack local support.

The aforementioned is a perfect concoction for self-destruction. For Kashmir to move on to the next and final step in its long tryst for peace and prosperity, the complete destruction of this indoctrination process is imperative. The onus of responsibility for this task lies first with civil society and then with the government.

The elders of Kashmir which includes the parents (especially mothers), relatives, political and religious leaders, academicians, teachers, intelligentsia and role models need to get together and stop this nefarious activity. The boys need to be told that there is no element of religiosity and sacrifice in the murderous and perfidious acts of the terrorists and that they need to isolate themselves from the misinformation campaign. They need to be reminded that ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’ for realisation of their aspirations. The government too needs to join in the aforementioned information initiative.

There is also a need for the government to look deeply into the reasons behind the frustration that leads the youth towards pursuing mindless violence and then take affirmative steps to remove the same. Lack of economic opportunity is a major reason behind youth following this debilitating path. In Kashmir 71 percent of the population is under the age of 35, of which, almost half is currently unemployed. Add to it the continuing environment of conflict and we have in hand a young and frustrated populace. The prevalent feeling of desperation, anger and helplessness can easily be exploited as is being done by Pakistan.

There is no denying that the government is making all efforts to uplift the economic condition of the region. This effort needs to be accelerated. Along with the facilities being provided the message should go that responsibility to maintain peace and stability lies with the people.

It is quite heartening to see the resolve with which security forces are targeting terrorists in the Kashmir Valley. The intention to rid the region from the scourge of terrorism is quite obvious. Such pressure needs to be maintained.

It is hoped that the youth of the region will correctly comprehend the changes that are in the pipeline and will come forward to fulfil all such aspirations that have remained dormant due to the long and debilitating shadow of the gun. That is the only method available to break the astounding obduracy that Pakistan is showing in continuing the unholy agenda of continuing with its unholy agenda.

Pakistan’s struggle for Islamic bloc support on Kashmir

How the Biden administration will deal with Pakistan is not an immediate concern for policy planners in Islamabad. Their real concern is how the divided Islamic world patches up and agrees to stand behind her for realizing the Kashmir dream. Pakistan foreign minister’s jaunts to some West Asian countries and the statements emanating from the host as well as the visitor, both, are clear indications that Pakistan wants to mend the fence and bridge the chasm not really for bringing peace and prosperity to Muslims but to garner the support of Islamic radicals for grabbing the entire region of Kashmir. She wants the ummah to believe that Pakistan’s struggle is Islam centric whereas actually, it is Kashmir centric.

The divide between the radicals and rationalists in the ummah (Muslim community) is of fair antiquity and traceable in the rise of the Ismailis in the 10-11th century A.D. In contemporary times it has taken a different shape by making a subtle shift from ideology to politics. Pakistan has made religion a handmaid of politics in Kashmir.

Kashmir is not the quintessential subject that has drawn a wedge between the Saudi Arabian monarchy and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as the later would like the world to believe. Their discordance is much deeper than what meets the eye. Before December 2019 Kuala Lumpur debacle, Saudi Arabia was infuriated with Pakistan’s refusal to be part of the Saudi-led 39-nation Islamic military alliance against the Houthi Yemen. By giving media hype to its Kashmir “concerns” and bringing in the Saudi related OIC factor into the Kashmir narrative, Pakistan only wanted to arrest the growing realism among the Kashmiri Muslims that Pakistan was incapable of doing anything to derail India’s J&K Reorganization Act 2019.

The Business Standard of 13 April 2017, had reported that the Saudi government had surprised many countries by announcing that it had forged a coalition for coordinating and supporting military operations against terrorism in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt and Afghanistan. Saudi circles inferred that Pakistan’s unwillingness to join the Islamic military alliance stemmed less from the fear of antagonising its next-door Shia neighbour but more from an apprehension that action against terrorists in Afghanistan could expose her clandestine designs as well like the ISI-Haqqani group tie-up.

Saudi Arabia, the traditional epicentre of Islamic conservatism, is willingly responding to the imperatives of contemporary times and, hence, undergoing notable social and cultural change. Having received education in the European and American educational institutions, Crown Prince Salman wants to wriggle out of outdated conservatism and open a new leaf in the history of contemporary Saudi Arabia. This disappoints the conservative non-Semitic bloc of Islamic leaders who feel that a liberalized and modernized Saudi Kingdom means drying up of funding sources and channels that kept them in power and their people stupefied with religious frenzy.  Also, fostering a cordial relationship between Israel and some of the Gulf States — the trust-building diplomacy in which the Saudi monarchy serves as a silent catalyst —  has become an irritant to the non-Semitic Muslim countries like Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, etc. Their apparent anti-Israel stance had prompted Iran to jump on the bandwagon of Malaysian Mahathir Muhammad. But on realizing that the Turkey bloc wanted to wrest the centrality of the ummah from Saudi Arabia and shift it to Ankara, the disillusioned Iranian President Hassan Rouhani could not help disappointing them.

Biden’s declaration that the US would not support the war in Yemen and would also impose an arms ban on the kingdom came as a windfall to Pakistan. Islamabad’s perception is that a disappointed and betrayed Saudi monarchy will understand the importance of staying closer to the Islamic fold. Pakistan presupposes a mediator’s role for her in rebuilding confidence between the estranged blocs. It has to be kept in mind that as the lone nuclear power among the 53-odd Islamic countries in the world, Pakistan enjoys a reasonably dominant status in the OIC. Iran and Turkey both aspire for nuclear capability and any souring of Saudi-US relations opens up a fairly good chance for the Kingdom to come closer to China which is the world’s largest importer of Saudi crude oil.

There seems a thaw, at least a tactical one, in Pak-Saudi freeze after the Kuala Lumpur episode. Pak foreign minister was recently on a visit to Egypt where he met with the President and his counterpart Sameh Shoukry. He also met with the Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul Ghat at the latter’s headquarters. In a joint statement, they promised to strengthen bilateral relations and work towards peace and development in Islamic countries.

Following Pak foreign minister’s trip to Cairo, Saudi Arabia and UAE rolled out a loan of US$ 1 billion to Islamabad. Riyadh also disclosed that Saudi oil giant ARAMCO will invest $10 billion in establishing a refinery in the port city of Gwadar. This is to bring parity with Riyadh’s commitment to India for the Mumbai refinery. West Asian analyst at Warsaw’s War Studies Academy told Nikkei Asia that the Turkey-Islamabad-Malaysia bloc which had challenged Saudi Arabia’s leadership will not be affected by these developments.

Islamabad is working at a multi-track approach to its resurgence as an important player in the transnational realignment among the Islamic countries. She is contemplating several joint economic ventures and agreements with Turkey and Iran, like the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul railway line and also the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline to balance relations with the Saudis and Egypt.

These developments are taking shape after the White House received a new inmate. If Biden stands by his restraining policy, Riyadh will be tempted to lean on Beijing. The road runs through Pakistan. In this scenario, the Sino-Saudi partnership will open a new chapter in the strategy of Gulf and Indian Ocean where Pakistan has been assured by both Turkey and China to be provided with sinews to her naval force. It has to be remembered that shortly after the Quad naval exercise in the Indian Ocean, Pakistan hosted China, the USA and the Russian joint naval exercise in the waters of the Indian Ocean.  Long back China had clandestinely supplied some crucial nuclear facility to Pakistan in making the bomb. China could repeat the game and hoodwink the world

In this changing scenario, the significant question that has great bearing on the entire game plan in West Asia is how the united Turko-Saudi block will manage the course of a relationship with Israel once the bloc comes into existence. Is Biden trying to contain the pro-Israel lobby in the US Congress after it had made significant inroads into the West Asian fortification?

Protests across POK as Pakistan refuses to release Tanveer Ahmed

Tanveer Ahmed was not produced in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) courts on Tuesday as Pakistanis continued their dubious games to deny the senior journalist his right to a legal redressal. Tanveer Ahmed was arrested in August last year when he took off Pakistan’s flag from Dadyal.

Local Kashmiris in POK said that Tanveer Ahmed’s arrest is illegal and protested against his continued detention. Protests erupted across POK against the illegal detention of Tanveer Ahmed at the call of the Jammu and Kashmir National Student Federation. Protesters shouted slogans and demanded immediate release of Tanveer Ahmed.

Protestors said that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is not a part of Pakistan so hoisting Pakistani flags is illegal. Therefore, the case against Tanveer Ahmed are baseless and his arrest is illegal. Protesters demanded that Tanveer Ahmed be released immediately.

Who is Tanveer Ahmed?

Tanveer Ahmed is a British Kashmiri citizen who worked with the BBC and is now a freelance journalist and researcher. Tanveer Ahmed is fighting for the identity of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and was recently on a tour of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to discuss the formation of the People’s Assembly. Some time ago, a burglary took place at Tanveer Ahmed’s house which is being termed as official theft in which Tanveer Ahmed’s laptop and other papers were stolen.

Three years ago, Tanveer Ahmed, despite enduring severe travel restrictions and imprisonment, conducted a poll of 10,000 people from all corners of the ten districts of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and released the survey report that described that popular opinion of people across POK. This survey report was published by the newspaper Mujadilla in which 73% of the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were in favor of an independent Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the very next day of publishing Tanveer Ahmed’s survey report the newspaper Mujadilla was shut down and Pakistan imposed a ban on its further publication. Today Tanveer Ahmed has been imprisoned even as he struggles to restore the identity of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Social media is awash with outrage over Tanveer Ahmed’s detention and there are talks of launching a movement to remove Pakistani flags from all across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Kashmiris are demanding the release of Tanveer Ahmed as well as the restoration of the Mujadila newspaper.
