POJK: Pak forces crack down on protestors in Mirpur & Muzaffarabad demanding basic rights

Reports from Mirpur and Muzaffarabad paint a grim picture of unrest as people take to the streets defying Pak imposed dictates of Section 144 and heavy police repression. Dozens of youths were subjected to violence and arrests in Mirpur to which, people resorted to heavy stone pelting on the police, sparking fierce protests at Chowk Shaheeda.

Similar scenes unfolded in Muzaffarabad, where Pakistan police personnel resorted to tear gas to disperse protestors. Disturbing visuals from the aite show Pak forces openly blazing guns against the peaceful protestors. Reports indicate that even the house of native Kashmiris were targetted in firing.

Additionally, to quell the protests, Pak forces have resorted to foul play, as evidenced by visuals recorded by the families of Awami Action Committee leaders. These recordings depict officials breaking into homes without permission, instilling fear among children and harassing women.

The root cause of these protests lies in the longstanding grievances of the people of POJK, who are demanding basic rights such as access to food, electricity, and a fair share of income from their lands. However, Pakistan’s continued neglect of their demands and illegal control for over the past 75 years has only fueled anger among the populace.

As tensions escalate and protests persist, the situation in Mirpur and Muzaffarabad remains volatile.

POJK protests Pakistan’s brutality; angry civilians beat Pak Asst. Commissioner

Protests have erupted across Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) following the arrest of business leaders and members of the Action Committee. The demonstrators expressed outrage against the oppressive measures taken by the occupying Prime Minister, accusing him of pushing the region towards devastation.

The Public Action Committee has announced a complete shutdown in POJK on Friday in response to the arrests and reported police brutality in Dadyal and other areas. Tensions escalated as tear gas was deployed and orders for a lathi charge were issued during the public protests. Reportedly, a girl lost her life in the action while others were injured. Angered protestors cornered an Assistant Commissioner, assaulting him and setting his vehicle ablaze. His torn clothes and helmet were hung on the gates of the city square as a symbol of protest.

Under the banner of the Joint Awami Action Committee, peaceful protests have been ongoing for over a year, with Kashmiris demanding their rights to essentials like electricity, wheat flour, and a fair share of the region’s wealth. Despite their grievances, Pakistan has turned a deaf ear to their demands.

In response to mass processions planned for Muzaffarabad on May 11, Pakistan deployed forces to suppress the peaceful protests, resorting to tear gas shelling even in schools and hospitals in Dadyal.

The brutal crackdown on civilian protests has sparked outrage among residents, leading to massive street demonstrations where slogans condemning Pakistan’s actions reverberated.

Notably, POJK has been under illegal occupation by Pakistan since independence, with residents accusing Pakistan of treating the region as its colony rather than granting them their rightful freedoms.

The recent incident serves as a stark reminder of the plight of the people of POJK under Pakistan’s rule, echoing the oppressive tactics of imperial powers in the 20th century.

Sindh: Dacoits abduct a Pashtun child, releases video with noose around his neck

In a heart-wrenching incident, a young child named Ayaz Pathan has become the latest victim of ruthless dacoits in Sindh, Pakistan. The chilling video capturing his abduction has sent shockwaves through the region, depicting the terrifying ordeal faced by the innocent child and his family. In the footage, Ayaz is seen with a noose around his neck, a harrowing symbol of the terror inflicted upon him.

The kidnappers have issued cold-hearted demands, threatening Ayaz’s parents with dire consequences unless they pay a hefty ransom. This tragic incident adds to a string of similar crimes where dacoits have abducted individuals and recorded videos to demand ransom, highlighting the alarming rise of criminal activity in the region.

Earlier incidents

For quite some time, the people of Sindh have been voicing concerns about the unchecked activities of dacoits who operate with impunity. Last year, Mukhi Jagdish Kumar, a 72-year-old Hindu trader, and his grandson were abducted by dacoits in Kashmore district. Despite pleas for help, the police turned a blind eye to their abduction, and a month later, a distressing video surfaced showing Jagdish Kumar being tortured by the criminals.

More recently, a businessman named Dharmendra received a troubling phone call informing him of an FIR filed against him in Kashmore Police station. Confused and alarmed, Dharmendra found himself unable to verify the authenticity of the call or the identity of the complainant. Fearful for his safety, he expressed reluctance to travel to Kashmore, citing the ongoing abduction crimes targeting Hindu businessmen in the region.

These brazen acts of criminality are often targeted at minority communities, including Hindus, Christians, and other marginalized groups, with extortion demands reaching exorbitant amounts. The dacoits responsible for these atrocities operate under the patronage of local warlords who enjoy impunity due to their political connections.

The complicity of the establishment and the police in providing protection to these criminals has exacerbated the situation, leaving innocent civilians vulnerable to abduction and extortion.

Protests block Quetta-Karachi highway against Pak Army’s raid on tribal leader’s home

The Quetta-Karachi Highway has been blocked at two different locations near Mastung due to ongoing protests. This severely disrupted the traffic movement on the major key locations.

In the first incident, a group of women have staged a sit-in protest at Khadda Kucha Mastung to condemn the late-night raid by Pak Army on the residence of tribal leader Mir Gul Jan Shahwani in Mastung district. The Army not only vandalised the home, property and valuable materials like cars but also violated of human rights and sanctity during the raid. Sadly, this is the seventh instance where the Army forcefully raided innocent civilian’s homes.

Meanwhile, at the Badrang locality, a group of truck drivers have also blocked the Quetta-Karachi Highway to protest against the violence by Motorway Police against them. Not only that, the Army blatantly cites security reason to establish anti-smuggling checkpoints, however, under this guise, personnel extract lakhs of rupees in bribes from truck drivers and passenger buses. Bribery of Pakistan Army is on the rise in Pak-occupied-Balochistan.

The Quetta-Karachi Highway is a major route in Pak-occupied-Balochistan. Therefore, with the problems still unresolved, the people especially women, are taking to the streets once again in protest

Radical Islamist mob attacks Hindu temple in Ahmedabad, vandalises idol

On Wednesday evening, chaos erupted at the Prerna Peeth Nishkalki Mandir, a Hindu temple in Ahmedabad, as an Islamist mob launched a violent assault.

Videos circulating on social media show individuals, wielding sticks and iron rods. According to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), the attack was pre-planned, resulting in damage to many sacred idols of Hindu deities inside the temple.

Like the Bhojshala complex, the temple has been a subject of contention between Muslim claimants and Hindu supporters, with disputes over its status as a shrine or a place of Hindu worship. Reports suggest that the incident was triggered by rumors of graves being disturbed at the site, leading to a gathering of local Muslims. Acting on rumours, the mob forcibly entered the temple, causing extensive damage to its walls and destroying religious icons.

Videos of the attack prompted condemnation from various groups, including the VHP and the Gujarat unit of Bajrang Dal.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Ahmedabad rural district police station, Special Operations Group (SOG), and Local Crime Branch (LCB), quickly intervened to restore order. An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence, ensuring justice for the desecration of the temple.

Ibrahim Khan booked for trapping a 14 year old Hindu girl in love jihad & raping her in Maharashtra

In a shocking incident, Mumbai Police in Maharashtra have taken action against an individual named Ibrahim Khan for the heinous crime of raping a 14-year-old Hindu girl and threatening her life.

Reportedly, Khan traped the minor into a ‘love’ affair and then coerced her into sexual relations. An FIR has been filed against Khan, according to which, the incident occurred in the Kashigaon area of Mumbai in November 2023.

At that time the victim had just moved to the locality with her sister after their parents’ death. Ibrahim, who lived in the neighbourhood approached the victim and professed his love for her, proposing marriage on November 8. Surprised girl took the time to respond. Meanwhile on November 11, when the victim was alone, he barged into her home and harassed her. Despite her refusal, Ibrahim used promise of marriage as a pretence and forced himself upon the girl.

Later in December same year, he again assaulted her sexually, abusing and threatening to kill her if she did not comply with his desires. Shockingly, the accuses also took her to a nearby Mosque, forcing her to follow Islamic tradition and observe Roza (practise of fasting during Ramadan). As the girl suspected her to have fallen in Love Jihad trap, she tried to maintain distance.

The girl later filed complaint with the police, to which the Mumbai police took swift action and registered a case.

Afghanistan: ISKP ambushes Taliban convoy set to crackdown illegal poppy fields

Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) has yet again orchestrated an attack on the Afghan soil, targetting Afghan Taliban. On May 8, a convoy of Taliban was targeted in an IED blast planted on a motorcycle. The blast resulted in the death of 6 Taliban men while at least six others were injured.

A spokesman for the Taliban’s interior ministry, Abd al-Mutin Qani, confirmed the casualties, stating that the bomb was aimed at a unit of security forces dispatched to eradicate illegal poppy fields. He added that an investigation into the attack is ongoing.

In recent months, targeted attacks in Afghanistan have been increased by the ISKP. The terrorist organization has accused the Taliban of apostasy and has been behind several horrific attacks on Afghan soil. Incidents such as the assault on a Shiite mosque, the targeting of a Taliban oil tanker, and an attack near Kabul bank are some of the recent attacks orchestrated by the ISKP in the Taliban-ruled-country.

Taliban rejects Pak Army’s claims of Afghanistan harbouring Baloch freedom fighters

The Taliban government in Afghanistan has strongly rejected claims by the Pak Army that freedom fighters groups operating in Pakistan have their roots and sanctuaries in Afghan territory.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Taliban’s Ministry of National Defense dismissed allegations made a day earlier by Major General Ahmed Sharif, spokesperson for the Army, who accused the “interim Afghan government” of violating the Doha agreement by harboring fighters.

“Holding Afghanistan responsible for incidents of insecurity in Pakistan is a failed attempt to divert attention from the truth,” the ministry’s statement said. It claimed that the suicide bomber involved in a recent attack on Chinese engineers in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was actually a Pakistani national controlled by “terrorists and facilitators” inside Pakistan.

The statement added that the Afghan government has reassured Chinese authorities, who “have also understood the reality that Afghans are not involved in such matters.”

Gen. Sharif had directly linked freedom fighter’s actions in Pakistan, including the suicide attack on Chinese nationals in Dassu, to fighters based across the border in Afghanistan. He asserted that fighters were attempting to destabilize security in Pak-occupied-Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

In his remarks on Tuesday, the Military spokesperson said that “the roots of those carrying out operations in Pakistan lie in Afghanistan” and accused the Taliban of openly violating their commitments under the 2020 Doha agreement with the United States.

However, the Taliban spokesman Inayatullah Khwarzmi hit back, alleging that the killing of Chinese citizens in a high-security area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa “exposes the weakness of Pakistan’s security institutions or the collusion of the attackers from within the Army.”

The Taliban defense ministry statement went further, claiming that fighters from the Islamic State group were entering Afghanistan from Pakistan, and that Pakistani territory was “being used against us.”

This latest war of words underscores the tensions between the two neighbors since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021. Pakistan, which had backed the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate in the 1990s, has repeatedly urged the current Taliban regime to take action against anti-Pakistan militants based on Afghan soil.

For their part, the Taliban authorities have denied giving refuge to any groups and have called on Pakistan to resolve internal militancy through domestic policies rather than blaming Kabul.

Pak Army forcibly disappears three more youths from Pak-occupied Balochistan

In Pakistan-occupied- Balochistan province, three more youths have been subjected to enforced disappearance by security forces, while one missing person was recovered after nearly a month in custody.

According to the PAANK, a human rights group associated with the Baloch National Movement, Pak Army conducted a raid in the Pullabad ,Pak occupied Balochistan area early Thursday morning and took away three young men – Mohsin Abdulsamad, Adil Abdulsamad and Sohail Baloch.

Their families have expressed grave concern over the youths’ well-being and whereabouts after they were whisked away by security personnel. PAANK vehemently condemned the action as “an abhorrent act and blatant violation of human rights and international laws.”

The new incident of forced disappearances comes just a day after Aziz son of Shambay was recovered nearly a month after being picked up from his home in Kech district during a raid on April 18. Close family sources confirmed Aziz’s recovery on Thursday.

The persistent issue of enforced disappearances has been a major flashpoint in the ethnic Baloch community for years, with Baloch freedom fighters taking actions against Pak security forces for routinely abducting activists and civilians.

Human rights organizations have long documented thousands of cases of enforced disappearances in Pak-occupied-Balochistan at the hands of intelligence agencies and Pak Army. Families have led numerous protests demanding the recovery of their missing loved ones. Pakistan has forcefully occupied Balochistan since 1948, exploiting its resources while oppressing its people.

Infamous dargah in Sindh forcefully converts Hindu family of 14

In a disturbing development, 14 members of the Hindu family belonging to Thori Marwari community and residing in the village of Yaro Lund in Ghotki, Pakistan, have been forcibly converted to Islam at the infamous Bharchundi dargah in Sindh.

Notably, Bharchundi dargah in Sindh’s Daharki, headed by Mian Javed Ahmad Qadri is the biggest site of forceful conversion of Hindus in entire Pakistan.

These forced conversions are orchestrated by radicalized clerics, who operate with impunity under the protection of the socio-political system in Pakistan. Converting non-Muslims is perceived as a sacred duty by a significant portion of Pakistani society, leading to the coercion of individuals into adopting Islam.

Sindh being the biggest Hindu populated region faces the wrath most. The radical clerics responsible for these conversions often boast about increasing their count of converted individuals and aim to Islamize entire populations within specific areas within a set timeframe.

For instance, a bigot named Pir Ayub Jan Farooqui has vowed to Islamise the entire Hindi population of Umerkot (Amarkot) and Tharparkar districts. So, these illicit conversions poses a direct threat to religious freedom and the rights of minority communities in Pakistan.

What is particularly alarming is that these conversions frequently target children, who may have little to no understanding of religion, further exacerbating the issue.

With due consideration, the persistence of such practices without challenge underscores the complicity of the Pakistani establishment in perpetuating religious discrimination and violating the rights of minority groups.

Hence, e situation calls for urgent attention and action to safeguard religious freedom and protect vulnerable communities from coercion and persecution.
