In a heart-wrenching incident, a young child named Ayaz Pathan has become the latest victim of ruthless dacoits in Sindh, Pakistan. The chilling video capturing his abduction has sent shockwaves through the region, depicting the terrifying ordeal faced by the innocent child and his family. In the footage, Ayaz is seen with a noose around his neck, a harrowing symbol of the terror inflicted upon him.

The kidnappers have issued cold-hearted demands, threatening Ayaz’s parents with dire consequences unless they pay a hefty ransom. This tragic incident adds to a string of similar crimes where dacoits have abducted individuals and recorded videos to demand ransom, highlighting the alarming rise of criminal activity in the region.

Earlier incidents

For quite some time, the people of Sindh have been voicing concerns about the unchecked activities of dacoits who operate with impunity. Last year, Mukhi Jagdish Kumar, a 72-year-old Hindu trader, and his grandson were abducted by dacoits in Kashmore district. Despite pleas for help, the police turned a blind eye to their abduction, and a month later, a distressing video surfaced showing Jagdish Kumar being tortured by the criminals.

More recently, a businessman named Dharmendra received a troubling phone call informing him of an FIR filed against him in Kashmore Police station. Confused and alarmed, Dharmendra found himself unable to verify the authenticity of the call or the identity of the complainant. Fearful for his safety, he expressed reluctance to travel to Kashmore, citing the ongoing abduction crimes targeting Hindu businessmen in the region.

These brazen acts of criminality are often targeted at minority communities, including Hindus, Christians, and other marginalized groups, with extortion demands reaching exorbitant amounts. The dacoits responsible for these atrocities operate under the patronage of local warlords who enjoy impunity due to their political connections.

The complicity of the establishment and the police in providing protection to these criminals has exacerbated the situation, leaving innocent civilians vulnerable to abduction and extortion.

Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) has yet again orchestrated an attack on the Afghan soil, targetting Afghan Taliban. On May 8, a convoy of Taliban was targeted in an IED blast planted on a motorcycle. The blast resulted in the death of 6 Taliban men while at least six others were injured.

A spokesman for the Taliban’s interior ministry, Abd al-Mutin Qani, confirmed the casualties, stating that the bomb was aimed at a unit of security forces dispatched to eradicate illegal poppy fields. He added that an investigation into the attack is ongoing.

In recent months, targeted attacks in Afghanistan have been increased by the ISKP. The terrorist organization has accused the Taliban of apostasy and has been behind several horrific attacks on Afghan soil. Incidents such as the assault on a Shiite mosque, the targeting of a Taliban oil tanker, and an attack near Kabul bank are some of the recent attacks orchestrated by the ISKP in the Taliban-ruled-country.

In a disturbing development, 14 members of the Hindu family belonging to Thori Marwari community and residing in the village of Yaro Lund in Ghotki, Pakistan, have been forcibly converted to Islam at the infamous Bharchundi dargah in Sindh.

Notably, Bharchundi dargah in Sindh’s Daharki, headed by Mian Javed Ahmad Qadri is the biggest site of forceful conversion of Hindus in entire Pakistan.

These forced conversions are orchestrated by radicalized clerics, who operate with impunity under the protection of the socio-political system in Pakistan. Converting non-Muslims is perceived as a sacred duty by a significant portion of Pakistani society, leading to the coercion of individuals into adopting Islam.

Sindh being the biggest Hindu populated region faces the wrath most. The radical clerics responsible for these conversions often boast about increasing their count of converted individuals and aim to Islamize entire populations within specific areas within a set timeframe.

For instance, a bigot named Pir Ayub Jan Farooqui has vowed to Islamise the entire Hindi population of Umerkot (Amarkot) and Tharparkar districts. So, these illicit conversions poses a direct threat to religious freedom and the rights of minority communities in Pakistan.

What is particularly alarming is that these conversions frequently target children, who may have little to no understanding of religion, further exacerbating the issue.

With due consideration, the persistence of such practices without challenge underscores the complicity of the Pakistani establishment in perpetuating religious discrimination and violating the rights of minority groups.

Hence, e situation calls for urgent attention and action to safeguard religious freedom and protect vulnerable communities from coercion and persecution.

In a deadly escalation of tensions, Israel has attained full control of the Rafah crossing, halting the aide into the region. Its tank took control of the crossing with warplanes hovering over. Israel based its action on the reports of misuse of humanitarian aide for terrorist purposes.

Amid the operation to control Rafah, Israel killed as many as 15 people in a day long period. Israel has also claimed that it pounded various Hamas targets with 20 terrorists being killed.

Notably Israel started to attack Rafah with its airstrikes on the city following a rocket attack on the Kerem Shalom border crossing.The attack, claimed by Hamas, resulted in the deaths of three Israeli soldiers and prompted swift retaliation from Israel.

Meanwhile, humanitarian organisation and displaced people were told to move from Eastern Rafah (targeted area) to al-Mawasi in west.

According to Palestinian health officials, at least 19 people were killed by Israeli fire on Sunday. The Israeli military reported that 10 projectiles were launched from Rafah towards the Kerem Shalom crossing, leading to its closure for aid trucks entering Gaza.

Israel was planning Rafah attack since months as it remains the only densely populated area of Gaza.

Hamas’ armed wing stated that it targeted an Israeli army base near the crossing, emphasizing that the commercial crossing was not the intended target. However, Israeli airstrikes hit a house in Rafah shortly after the Hamas attack, resulting in three deaths and several injuries, according to Palestinian medics.

The Israeli military confirmed the retaliatory strike, stating that it targeted the launcher used by Hamas and a nearby military structure. It accused Hamas of exploiting humanitarian facilities and using the civilian population as human shields.
