POB: Baloch Liberation Front attacks Pak Army convoy in Buleda

The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) launched an attack in Buleda (Pak-occupied Balochistan), resulting in the death of five Pak Army personnel. The BLF executed the assault on a convoy consisting of two vehicles and six motorcycles using an IED blast in the Kech region. The attack also left two Army personnel injured, including a major, in critical condition.

The deceased individuals are identified as Naik Tariq, Tipu Razzaq, Shafi, Tariq Nechari, and Shaukat. The injured officer, currently in critical condition, has been identified as Major Abbas.

Baloch Sarmachars, freedom fighters of the BLF, utilized modern and automatic weapons to target additional vehicles and motorcycles in the assault. The strategic and organizational execution of the operation, based on undisclosed information, inflicted substantial losses on the Army personnel between Friday and Saturday at 3 o’clock in the night.

Despite the Army’s significant investment in technology and machinery, the BLF’s continuous success of their operations showcases the psychological and strategic defeat of the Army on the front lines. The BLF, reiterating its commitment to the cause, emphasizes that it will persistently target and defeat the Army on all fronts until the achievement of Balochistan’s independence.

The Baloch Liberation Front’s spokesperson, Gwahrm Baloch, stated that these operations are a reaction to Pak Army’s continuous, violent occupation of Balochistan, and will continue till the attainment of their free homeland. Baloch people have faced relentless oppression through daily home raids, disappearances, staged encounters, target killings, torture, and kidnappings for ransom.

Indian army cleans Rajouri sector of Pak backed terrorists

0

While the overall security situation in the Kashmir Valley has shown considerable improvement, the state of affairs in the Pir Panjal area of Rajouri has worsened due to an extraordinary surge in terrorist activities that has resulted in the security forces suffering significant casualties. Though very unfortunate, such reverses while fighting a proxy war are at times inevitable because unlike terrorists who have scant regards for civilian life and property, soldiers are bound by rules of engagement which at times serve as a handicap.

Pakistan Army’s sponsorship of the ongoing proxy war in J&K is no secret. With terrorist activity in Kashmir Valley on the wane due to concerted actions by the security forces and law enforcement agencies, the Pakistan Army’s notorious spy agency Inter Services Intelligence [ISI] has directed its proxies to shift their terrorist activities to south of the Pir Panjal mountain range. The terrain here being mountainous and densely forested, provides terrorists an excellent scope of carrying out hit and run attacks.

The Indian army has been quick in taking stock of the prevailing situation in the Rajouri sector with due diligence and utmost seriousness. What’s praiseworthy is that instead of resorting to knee-jerk reactions, it is carrying out a comprehensive analysis of the prevailing situation at various levels, and by involving all stakeholders ensuring optimal synergy between the army, central/UT police forces as well as intelligence agencies.

An exhaustive brainstorming session to address the terrorist threat in the Pir Panjal area as well as the hinterland has also been carried out within the army in which officers of Counter Insurgency Force [Rajouri and Doda] and Ace of Spades Division participated. During this session, besides a thorough review of the prevailing operational dynamics, ways to make anti-terrorist operations in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi sectors more effective were also discussed threadbare.

Following his Line of Control [LoC] visit in the Rajouri sector alongwith Nagrota based  White Knights Corps Commander Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva to review the ground situation, General officer Commanding-in-Chief of Udhampur based Northern Command Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi chaired a high level security review conference. Attended by DGP JKP RR Swain, ADG Law & Order Vijay Kumar, ADG Jammu Division Anand Jain and IG CRPF Sanjeev Khirwar, the forum discussed plans to destroy the terrorist ecosystem.

It’s been learnt that having obtained essential inputs and suggestions from the environment, Headquarters Northern Command has drawn up a holistic plan to clear the Rajouri sector of terrorists. Referred to as ‘Strat 24’, it envisages use of kinetic means to neutralise terrorists as well as conducting meaningful civic action programmes to win over hearts and minds of the civil population.

The Poonch-Rajouri sector has been a hotbed of terrorist activities in the past but the Indian security forces ably supported by law enforcement agencies had successfully uprooted terrorism from this area. So, the current situation should not be a reason for alarm as the Indian army has both the capability and determination to once again clear this area of terrorists.

Non-initiation of large scale operations against terrorists in the Rajouri belt may have upset some, but what needs to be understood is that the current situation calls for patience and caution. It needs to be understood that absence of anti-terrorist operations doesn’t mean that the security forces are either complacent or on the back foot. On the contrary, periods of what appears to be inactivity on the part of security forces is often an indication that something big is afoot.

For obvious reasons, the precise contours of the action plan conceived by Northern Command have not been disclosed. Yet, with Lt Gen Dwivedi focusing on seamless synergy in operations, joint combat readiness, strengthening the counter terrorism grid and ensuring soldier-citizen connect, it’s apparent that ‘Strat 24’ will definitely turn the tables on the Pakistan Army’s proxies holed up in the Pir Panjal ranges and hinterland.

Despite Pak Army’s sabotage attempt, Pashtuns protest in Bannu for the release of Manzoor Pashteen

Pashtun Tahafuz Movement is at the helm of struggle against the Pakistani oppression. After the brutal arrest and subsequent abduction of its Pashtun leader Manzoor Pashteen, PTM has become more aggressive in its approach to protect the Pashtun rights and freedom. In a latest development, on 14 January, PTM held a mass protest rally in Bannu demanding the immediate release of Manzoor Pashteen along with other PTM activists who are captivated on various false cases.

Since last few weeks, PTM was preparing for the Bannu protest. After Manzoor Pashteen was rearrested by the Jhelum Police from the gates of Adiala prison, the protest gained even more importance among the PTM activists. Hence, they intensified their campaign to make the protest successful. In response to their aggressive campaign, tens of thousands of Pashtuns and PTM activists reached Bannu and raised their voice against the oppression by the Pakistani establishment.

Bannu administration mischief

However, as expected Pakistan Army left no stone unturned to sabotage the protest. On the dawn of day of jalsa, i.e. January 14, the local police reached at the protest site and vandalized the preparations. Dissent fearing establishment employed the same tactic to thwart the jalsa which was employed to stop the Baloch long march. Bannu administration and local police took with them the speakers and other materials crucial for the protest. PTM has registered strong disappointment over the incident. PTM’s central leader Haji Samad Khan, in a video message, stated that their belongings were stolen by the administration even when all the required permissions were taken by the local PTM unit.

Notably, a significant number of police personnel were also deployed at the site since the morning. Although Khan stated that they would hold the protest as planned.

Furthermore, some reports also suggest that some of the PTM members were also arrested, and shots were fired on the meeting site. Nonetheless, defying the establishment’s pressure and  sabotage attempt, people participated in the protest rally in a significant numbers. The anger and agony among the protestors were evident by their strong sloganeering. This was commended by the address of Hanif Pashteen, a PTM activists who was recently released from jail after 4 years. Hanif hurled slogans against the Pakistan Army stating it responsible for the terrorism in the region.

PTM sends strong message through Bannu protest

Facing the crowd he yelled, “Yeh jo dehshatgardi hai…” (This is terrorism ) and the crowd reciprocated with “Iske peeche wardi hai” (the uniform is behind this). Also, he also hurled slogans saying, “Yeh wardiwale” (these men in uniform) to which people replied “Dehshatgard” (terrorists).

Meanwhile the slogans were also raised demanding the release of Manzoor Pashteen. The huge influx of Pashtuns in Bannu shook the Pakistan Army to its core. Despite their mischievous acts to sabotage the protest, protestors in Bannu held a successful protest, sending a clear message that coercion can not deter the Pashtuns. After an era of coercion and disrupted life, the people have now become fearless and vocal. Now it’s up to the Pakistan Army to fathom over their long established policy of persecution.

Shabbir Mayar lambasts POGB local leaders for being silent over protests in the region

Protest in Pakistan occupied Gilgit Baltistan (POGB) has intensified against the removal of wheat subsidy and imposition of taxes through newly crafted Finance Act 2023. The protest has become expansive and is observed in every corner of the region. During one such protest in Khurming, Chairman of Gilgit Baltistan United Movement, Shabbir Mayar lambasted the local leaders and elected representatives for their silence over the protests and removal of subsidy.

Shabbir Mayar stated that those representatives who are sceptic to participate in the public protest because of their political interests, will be considered as traitors. He said, “About 10-12 people have contested the elections but when the morsel is being snatched from the mouths of people, some are not participating because of the fear of District Commissioner, Commissioner while some refrain because they fear that their chances of going to Assembly will be compromised.” He went on to say that all these people are traitors. Moreover, Mayar said, “Those leaders who got votes of the people and do not participate in the protest for the protection of rights of people will be considered as people’s offender and from now on the slogans will be raised against them.”

Protest with no support from local leaders

The stern warning of GBUM chief is sufficient to understand the intensity of control that Pakistan and its puppet government hold. Despite thousands of people protesting, no people’s representative can gather courage to unify their voice with the people who chose them. They know that if they do so, Pakistan and its puppet government in POGB will take coercive actions rendering them ineligible for future Assembly elections.

This also highlights the precarious condition of protestors whose voice goes unheard despite huge participation. Neither the Pakistani establishment nor the puppet government is extending them the support. Even the local candidates are not trying to stand behind the protestors. Amidst all this, the general pubic is left with its own organization viz, Awami Action Committee and Gilgit Baltistan United Movement (GBUM) among others.

576 cases of enforced disappearances of Baloch by Pak Army in 2023

Recently Paank released its annual report of 2023 which exposes a grim reality of human rights abuse in Pakistan-occupied Balochistan. The Pak Army has caused an alarming surge in enforced disappearances with a total of 576 recorded cases. The lives of 75 innocent individuals were mercilessly cut short by the Pak Army, falling victim to extrajudicial killings. Equally distressing, 261 survivors endured brutal torture and bear the scars of a heinous violation of human dignity at the hands of the Pak Army.

Balochistan is facing a systematic assault on its humanity by the Pak Army. The Baloch people have endured daily home invasions, abductions for ransom, simulated encounters, target killings, forced disappearances, and torture since March 27, 1948. The resource-rich provinces of Pakistan-occupied Balochistan have been the focus of exploitation, with the Pak Army orchestrating an evil plan to plunder the region’s wealth.

For every life stolen and family shattered the world must demand impartial investigations, target sanctions against the offenders, and a path towards justice for the innocent Baloch community. The world is aware of the courageous resistance of the Baloch people and their outcry for justice, even outside of Balochistan. This cry won’t end until the Baloch people’s voices are heard and they are freed from the enemy’s oppressive hold.

Karachi: Baloch Yakjehti Committee sparks massive protest wave against the Pak Army in Lyari

Dealing a substantial blow to the Pakistan Army, stirring visuals from Lyari and Malir in Karachi are making waves. Thousands participate in a sit-in protest, responding passionately to the call of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee. The BYC’s call, a clarion cry for justice, has not only resonated within the Baloch community, but ignited a fire across the entire nation.

This surge of support comes even after the Sindh Police’s, puppets of the oppressor Pak Army, brazen attempt to block the Baloch Yakjehti Committee’s rally from moving forward.

In a demonstration of solidarity with the people of Pak-occupied-Balochistan, residents of Lyari and Malir in Karachi took to the streets on Friday to protest against ongoing enforced disappearances in the province. The peaceful protest included women and children, and highlighted the growing concern about human rights violations in Pak-occupied-Balochistan.

The protest was met with resistance from Karachi police, who detained some participants. This action has raised concerns about freedom of assembly and due process in the region. But, these events mark the third phase of protests called on by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee against the ongoing Baloch Genocide.

The BYC’s demands are stark and clear: an end to enforced disappearances, the release of missing persons, reforms within the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and dismantling the Army-sponsored death squads. These demands represent a desperate plea for basic human rights and a return to normalcy in a region scarred by years of conflict.

The sight of thousands marching in Lyari, a predominantly Sindhi area, signifies a growing understanding of the shared struggle for justice in Pakistan. The Baloch cause is no longer confined to the borders of the province; it has become a national conversation, demanding attention and action.

Pak-occupied Sindh should revolt against national slavery: Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement

In an urge to revolt against the national slavery, Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) has declared to hold a grand national rally in Sann City on January 17, 2024, commemorating the 120th anniversary of Sain GM Syed, the founder of modern Sindhi Nationalism.

The decision was announced by Sohail Abro, Chairman of JSFM, during a meeting of the central body. The gathering, attended by key officials including Vice Chairman Zubair Sindhi and General Secretary Amar Azadi, aimed to organize the event with discipline. The central leaders also emphasized the importance of the occasion, announcing plans for a cutting ceremony at Syed’s shrine.

However, the JSFM leadership expressed concerns about the actions of the caretaker Sindh government. In fact, they accused the occupying Pak government of planning to grab agricultural lands in Sindh, allegedly in collaboration with military companies. The leaders called attention to the use of various tactics to harass political national workers in Sindh and highlighted cases of activists being forcibly abducted and imprisoned on false charges.

In a joint statement, the JSFM central leadership urged international organizations to take notice of these alleged human rights violations and called for the release of detained national activists. The leaders emphasized their commitment to holding a peaceful national rally on January 17, inviting youth, women, and children to participate.

Sohail Abro, Central Chairman of JSFM, reiterated the movement’s call for the Sindhi nation to challenge this national slavery. He encouraged all national workers to attend the upcoming rally as a show of solidarity against the challenges faced by the community.

Pak Army burns down hundreds of villages in Pak-occupied Balochistan

In a disturbing case, the Pak Army has burnt down hundreds of villages in Pakistan-occupied Balochistan forcing mass evacuations. This reprehensible action of the Pak Army has resulted in displacing thousands of innocent families who are now left to languish as IDPs.

This blatant disregard for basic human rights is nothing new to the Pak Army who have consistently inflicted their atrocities to the innocent Baloch people. The Baloch people have been subjected to ceaseless oppression since March 27, 1948, including daily home invasions, abductions for ransom, disappearances, simulated encounters, target killings, and torture.

The provinces of Pak-occupied Balochistan have become a focal point of exploitation, with the Pak Army orchestrating a sinister plan to plunder the region’s wealth. This crisis needs urgent global attention and efforts towards peace and justice in Balochistan.

Chaman protest against Pakistan’s mandatory passport policy along the Durand line continues

Protests in Pakistan have become a common practice because of the negligent establishment which is habitual of ignoring the causes of common people. In a series of these protests, a huge Chaman protest is ongoing for past three months, and as expected, no constructive and solution-oriented approach has been taken by Pakistani establishment. On the contrary, it has used its coercive power to make the protest go unreported. Its pitiful that a peaceful protest that is happening for so long and relates to a densely populated community has been kept alienated.

Notably, Chaman is one of the busiest and most popular border crossing routes at the Durand line, which is used by the Pashtuns to enter Afghanistan for trade and meet their relatives. Instead of facilitating them and crafting a more people-oriented policy, Pakistan abruptly suspended the long-established norms and made the passport mandatory.

Long established Tazkira provision suspended

For years traders and other people with relatives across the border have travelled to either side of the border. The presence of a community on both sides of the border makes the issue complicated. Earlier, Pakistan had employed a provision of issuing daily slips called Tazkira, as a permission to cross the border with a condition of an evening return. Along with Tazkira, Pashtun-Afghans had to show their national identity card.

But in October, Pakistan announced that this provision of Tazkira would be suspended and a new “one document regime” would be enforced from 1 November. This enraged the masses and hence on October 23, a large number of protestors with a count of more than 35, 000 started Chaman protest.

They are demanding that the erstwhile Tazkira rule should be reinstated, and that the compulsion of passport should be ended with immediate effect. However, Pakistan has completely ignored these demands.

Reason behind Pakistan’s ignorance of Chaman protest

Actually, Pakistan always thought that the Taliban regime, once comes to power, would be friendly and would allow Pakistan to change the long-contended Durand line as per its own wish. It also thought that the terrorist which are instrumental to its policies would get a refuge in Afghanistan but under its control. But things changed dramatically, the Afghan Taliban posed a solid diplomatic confrontation to Pakistan on the issue of Durand line. Similarly, TTP also came openly against the Pakistan Army unexpectedly which also became the bone of contention between the terrorist Taliban regime in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pakistan has for long blamed Taliban for providing safe haven to the TTP.

This friction escalated to the zenith during the Chitral clashes where TTP occupied various villages in territories controlled by Pakistan. In the aforesaid conflict, Pakistan Army faced a humiliating damage at the hands of terrorists which prompted Pakistan to deploy air support. After the clashes, the frustrated Pakistan Army commanded every institution to act against Afghans, which resembled first in the forced repatriation of Afghan refuges residing in Pakistan.

In the same pursuit, Tazkira was also suspended, and passport was made mandatory. It is unfortunate that Pakistan has always employed illicit tactics as a policy and when it backfired, it forced the people to bear the consequences.  Instead of correcting its own policies and taking peaceful recourse, Pakistan has chosen to punish their own population.

So, Chaman protest is a testament to the fact that Pakistan has not only failed at policy level but also its people.

Pak Army’s despicable tactic against Baloch activist Sammi Deen Baloch

In a shameful act of desperation, the Pak establishment has sunken to new lows by resorting to deceitful photo editing to tarnish the reputation of fearless activist Sammi Deen Baloch. This is disgusting attempt of propaganda to silence female activists only serves the moral bankruptcy of the Pak Army and its puppeteers.

Sammi Baloch gave a befitting reply, stating “After my blunt response yesterday, a vulgar and dirty propaganda campaign is underway against me on various social media accounts based on my fabricated pictures. The days are gone when the privacy of a woman was used as a blackmailing and character assassination tactic to silence her and suppress her voice.

Undoubtedly, it was my personal decision to come before the media in a veil, but some people have considered this thing as my weakness as a woman. In this struggle, we have put our lives and much more at stake without caring about our lives, but congratulations to them and their patrons for their immoral actions.”

Propaganda like these will only crumble before their bravery and resilience as female activists are the strongest of all and they know how to remain steadfast in the face of their horrific tactics of torture, arrests, and threats.

This is just another attempt by the oppressive Pak Army to stifle the voices of dissent and suppress the Baloch struggle for independence. The Pakistan Army has a long history of using the CTD and police as instruments of oppression, engaging in brutal kill-and-dump policies, staging encounters, daily home raids, target killings, torture, and humiliation at checkpoints. Balochistan has been forcibly occupied by the oppressive Pak Army since March 27, 1948. During this time, the Baloch community has been subjected to daily home raids, disappearances, staged encounters, target killings, torture, humiliation at checkpoints, and kidnappings for ransom. Baloch people are being targeted and watched over by the Pak Army, and anyone who might pose a question is either killed or kidnapped. It’s time for global attention to address the grave injustice that has been caused to the Baloch community by the Pak Army.
